  1. Hi Norm You are in for a great discovery, Kenny Barron is a great pianist, has been on the scene for many years and has made so many recordings, both as leader and as sideman, younger brother of tenorplayer Bill Barron (who was a good friend of mine). Listen to his solo (My Favorite) on "I Can't Started" from Getz Anniversary Album recorded here in Copenhagen on 6th of July, 1987 live at The Club Montmartre, I was there, one of my great moments. Vic
  2. Another BTW, Jazzmessengers in Barcelona have the Rearwards at a reasonable price. Vic
  3. BTW dont buy "Music For The Small Hours", it's duplicated in full on "Calypso Blues", I bought both before I found out, waste of money. Vic
  4. One of my favorite bands, I am trying to get as much as I can, here is what I have so far: Now Hear Our Meanin', Calypso Blues, Swing Waltz Swing, Music For The Small Hours, Two Originals: All Blues/Sax No End, Open Door, Volcano, All Smiles, More, My Kind Of World, Fellini 712, More Smiles, Paris Jazz Concert(2 CD), At Her Majesty's Pleasure, Off Limits, Blue Flame-Red Hot-White(without KC). The Small Groups: Sahib Shihab: Summer Dawn, And All Those Cats, Seeds; Johnny Griffin: Lady Heavy Bottom's Waltz; Benny Bailey: Mirrors. BTW will soonl get Griff'n and Bags. Vic
  5. Thanks Guys for the info, just what I needed, everybody is always so helpful on Organissimo Vic
  6. Hi all I am looking for info about personell and recording date(s) for three tunes with Milt Jackson, all recorded for Savoy. 1) You Go To My Head 2) Blues Mood 3) Big Junior (or maybe just Junior) thanks in advance Vic
  7. You guys are lucky, I have 10 Mosaic sets, but they have become too expensive for me to buy more, with custom, vat and shipping, but the on the other side, I don't play mine much, I really seem to forget my boxsets much. Vic
  8. Clarke/Boland: Swing, Waltz, Swing Richard Galliano: Ruby, My Dear James Moody: 4A Nick Brignola: Like Old Times Jimmy Gourley and Barney Wilen: Double Action (was lucky to get that, it has gone OOP) Vic
  9. Do anybody know how Chris Albertson is, have not seen him posting for a long time, I miss him. Vic
  10. Thanks Guys, that was what I needed. Vic
  11. The two I have not found is "I'll Remember April" and "Sweet Georgia Brown" from something called Various Artists - Jazz Club U.S.A. In Europe (No Label No Number) recorded in Europe January-February 1954. Vic
  12. Can anyone supply me with the recording date(s) for Hawkins All Stars from 1954, released on Jazztone. Vic
  13. Richard Galliano WOW, that is if you like accordion and Astor Pizzarelli (and tango in a jazzway). Vic
  14. Hi all With the help from some good friends on this board have I now got everything that Sonny Clark ever recorded (except for two tunes that is impossible to find). It took me 3 years to get it, I am so grateful to those who helped me vith very rare recordings. Vic
  15. Barney Wilen "La Note Bleue" Ida records, recorded in 1986 Vic
  16. Really sad news, I have not bought Mosaics for years now(too expensive with shipping cost, custom and wat), but it was a great company, sorry to to say that I don't think they will survive, not so many of the true jazzlovers anymore, we are a dying breed. I only have 8 sets, but still, I have too much music to listen too. I can listen for a whole year from morning to night without listen more than once to each record I have, should be enough. We are not stamp collectors, we are lovers of JAZZ. Vic
  17. 7 today, all on the Italian Rearward label Benny Bailey "Mirrors" Clarke/Boland "Music For The Small Hours" Clarke/Boland "Off Limits" Clarke/Boland "Calypso Blues" Johnny Griffin "Lady Heavy Bottom's Waltz" (love that title name) Sahib Shihab "Summer Dawn" Sahihib Sihab "Seeds" Vic
  18. I have about 40 CD's with Chet, some are great and some are bad, my favorire is "Chet's Choice" on Criss Cross, very very good, and also "Diane" with Paul Bley(duo) on Steeple Chase, but the truth is I hardly listen to him anymore, so what can I say. Vic
  19. I only buy online, and can usually find what I want if not OOP, I have a online media shop in Denmark where I can find the most I want, and then I buy quite a lot from Jazz Messengers in Barcelona, but is about to stop, I have already too much, I play 8 hours a day, but still have lots that I have not listened too for years. so far this year I have purchased 74 CD's, lol Vic
  20. Charlie Ventura Proper Box "Bop For The People", I like that, especially disc 4, the concert disc, swings like hell and a lot of fun. Vic
  21. Hi friends I have sorted it out now, On Chambers "Go" is it named Shades Of Blue, and on "1st Bassman" is it named Who's Blues, but not mentioned in the notes that it's from a different date, but it's the same tune on both CD's. So it's nothing undiscovered, they are from the Chambers Quartet date from february 1959. Vic
  22. it is Lateef on the first 6 tracks, but not on track 7, it's an altosax that sounds about 99% to be Cannonball. Vic
  23. Can anyone agree with me that on the reissued Vee Jay: Chambers "1st Bassman" is it Cannonbal alone with the rhytm section that plays on track 6 "Who's Blues" (credited to Julian Adderley) that plays here, was not the original LP, but not listed in Cannonball's discography. Vic
  24. I have had the same problem, but it was always the player, get the laser replaced(but only once, a little expensive), then buy a new CD player, I just have done that, mine was 10 years old, so no problems now. Vic
  25. I agree with all of you about the bootleg companies, but they fill gaps, that the Major Records companies would not touch anyway, sorry to say this, but I have filled many holes in my collection buying bootleg CD's. I buy many from Jazzmessengers in Barcelona(Spain), they have a great selection and good prices and give very good service, once a package to me never arrived, they send a new one, no charge. Vic BTW Rollins in Copenhagen is great, but I also have a real bootleg with Him from Copenhagen 1965, Rollins, NHOP, Alan Dawson, it's fantastic, it's from a radio broadcast, very good sound.
