  1. Perhaps most of the earth will be sucked into the black hole, but a small fragment will remain as the frantic scientists are able to turn off the machine just in time. The small fragment of our planet, smaller than Mercury, will remain, drifting in space, able to barely sustain life, with only 9,000 people left and only one natural leader, who will be elected dictator for life by acclamation...Sarah Palin.
  2. "Avant Pop" and "The Fire THIS Time" are my favorite albums by Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy. I saw them live once. They were great.

    Billy Cobham

Richard Davis told his jazz history class, when I took it, that he had played with Billy Cobham often, and that while everyone thought of Cobham as a fusion drummer, that "Cobham can play anything. He's a great acoustic jazz drummer too." For the record, I don't think anyone has specifically mentioned his work with the first edition of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, which must be considered an important part of his career.
  4. Let's see both lists! You might want to post the blues list on Blindman's Blues Forum, too.

    Billy Cobham

I liked his drumming on Richard Davis' "Fancy Free" album (with Eddie Henderson, Joe Henderson, and Stanley Cowell).
  6. "The Persuasive Sax of Russ Procope". This is a Russell Procope-led session, without Duke. It was a 1956 release on Dot Records. There was a copy in the LP bin at Half Price Books.
  7. Offbeat (excellent magazine on New Orleans music, mostly non-jazz) Funny Times (compilation of current cartoons and humor pieces) Blues Revue Living Blues The New Yorker
  8. Here is a previous thread on this topic: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34861
  9. PM sent for trade for the Lee Morgan, Art Pepper CDs.
  10. Amazing how someone will do something illegal, and when they're caught, will try and make it seem as if someone else has done something wrong. Whatever happened to accepting responsibility for one's actions? That became outmoded thinking under the Bush Administration. No accountability became the national moral standard, with robbing, stealing and cheating becoming the ideal.
