  3. The programme was very skillfully finessed to get over the seemingly crippling loss of Brenda. It's very much a team show now, although I wish they'd get rid of the kid, I find him a pain. I think he was introduced to show off the softer, maternal side of Sharon. You recall she was a real badass villian and instrumental in Brenda's departure towards the end of The Closer. I agree, it's a well made series that is consistently good, except for Rusty. Everytime Julio speaks up I think of Breaking Bad. The series returns in November.
  4. I'm definitely getting the new Knuffke.
  5. Major Crimes - season finale, underrated series IMHO.
  6. I received a similar e-mail months ago. I haven't been to AAJ either in years. As I recall I ignored the e-mail & nothing happened.
  7. O.K. - I hope the Miles movie is better than Ishtar. Apples & oranges + wishful thinking I suppose.
  8. Looks interesting. Do I wish it wasn't solo. Not sure.
  9. Could he (Williams) have written "good songs". I actually don't know. Maybe they wouldn't have fit the movie. Not sure why I care.
  10. Great set!!
  11. The success I presume, not the songs.
  12. It must be the Paul Williams songs you like. In the context of the film, the Williams songs were supposed to be lame, terrible songs IIRC -- musical banana peels to show how lame and terrible the Beatty-Hoffmann duo was. You wanted them to be good songs? Ish Kabibble should look like Cary Grant? Marjorie Main should fit into a bikini? Prof. Irwin Corey should speak like John Gielgud? If that's the case (lame & terrible) they (the songs) were a success. Did Williams write them that way on purpose or was that the best he could do?? I guess the movie then becomes a cynical success. I just never could give it that much credit. I'll stick with Ebert.

  15. "Ishtar is a truly dreadful film." - Roger Ebert - May 1987 - so you must both be kidding. OTOH, Ishtar gate is very interesting. Look it up.
  16. Ishtar Hey, I liked Ishtar, Different strokes.
  17. Joe Albany - maybe he was mentioned before.
  18. I like Heaven's Gate.
