  1. I just received this disc yesterday. It is by NO means Ware's best work, though it is interesting. It just seems unfocused -- some of the tunes are like movie soundtracks, others more jazz or classical oriented. The William Parker string date that came out this past summer blows this away, in compositions and playing. The Parker is one of my favorite releases this year -- but not the Ware.
  2. done and gone. Thanks guys!
  3. I can't recall about the JRVGs, but I do also remember the TOCJs being mentioned as being from second generation tapes.
  4. Patience, grasshoppers...........
  5. I'm looking for a cdr of this double lp set. If this was ever issued on cd, let me know.
  6. The cymbal heaviness may be from the recording itself -- I once borrowed a copy of the vinyl from an acquaintence, and it too was cymbal heavy. But still, it didn't detract from a kick ass session that this is.
  7. I have both lps of The Awakening on this label. Both are smokin' sessions!
  8. Probably: Katanga Tippin on Through Way Down (w/ Victor Feldman) Groovin Blue (W/ Frank Butler) Meetin Here (w/ Paul Bryant)
  9. This is a piece of crap. Only for completists and masochists.
  10. Good grief...............
  11. Frank London, Anthony Coleman, Steve Coleman, Susie Ibarra. There is a lot of good music to be heard on this label, other than Masada.
  12. I've been waiting for this Al Green album for a while now. I guess Blue Note forgot that he had a previous cd on Capitol five/six years ago that was secular as well.
  13. Where do I find these online?
  14. Mine had a skip about 2 minutes into that track. Fortunately, when I burned it to cd, it did not skip. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't.
  15. Ellington's "House Party" and Jackie McLean's "Dynasty."
  16. $18 is a good price if there are no marks on the lp. I recently sold the lp on ebay myself.
  17. Not even a TOCJ reissue, either. BUY the Mosaic.............
  18. Thanks, Chuck!
  19. It could be the hurricane, cabin fever, or what not, but I was listening to this double lp set and looking at the dates -- were these reissued or integrated into existing cds? One has a Village Gate session, August 1961, another, Renaissance Club, March, 1962, and the third, February 21, 1954 Birdland date.
  20. I saw it in my local store yesterday -- but didn't pick it up -- not at $18.98..........
  21. This week...... Thelonious Monk - Underground (remaster) Jimi Hendrix - Live in Montreal 1970 Doug Carn - Trio Leon Thomas - In Berlin Lee Morgan - Lee Way Paul Weller - Wild Wood
  22. I'm a little late in this conversation, but here's my two cents: I've had an HK 20 for a few years now, and have had only one incident where I had to send the machine back to the manufacturer (recommended repair place in California). They upgraded my firmware (with what, I have NO idea), but all I know is when I got it back, I have had no problems whatsoever with burning cds. I use TDKS and Sony, and have not had any sound issues with playback.
  23. Don't be surprised if there will be one last Cash album on the way. Apparently, he had been in the studio quite a bit since June's passing .
  24. One of the last great giants of country music. RIP
