  1. Some of them pop up on those blog sites. My life isn't any less for not having access to all the Horos. They'll come around, eventually.
  2. So after a few months of hair pulling, teeth gnashing, and computer fighting, I have taken a first step and made what I consider my 1st real book: http://www.adoramapix.com/kinggab/book/new-york-august-2011 I have deleted most of the other books I once listed, and will redo them in a way that I think will be more formal and legible from a book viewing standpoint. More to come, now that I have the workflow down, and they are all for sale.
  3. Received my set today. Yeah, this is FINE music!!!! I have no problems with the sound (listening thru a tube integrated, if that matters, which in my opinion, doesn't).
  4. I've enjoyed the Mosaic releases of the Henry Threadgill and Anthony Braxton Arista sessions. Also: Henry Threadgill set from Black Saint The Thing - 3 cd compilation of their early work Atomic box set Sam Rivers Mosaic (3 cds box and Mosaic Select) Sun Ra - The Singles 2 cd set on Evidence Wildflowers set on Knitting Factory My current listen, the 14 cd Sun Ra Transparency box set that just came out (volume 1!) is one of the most revealing sets I have ever heard. My mind and ears have been stretched by both pre WWII and "avant garde" music to know that this is a set that ties all the music together -- big band, latin, doo wop, etc. To listen or even prefer to one genre more than the other no longer makes sense to me.
  5. Still haven't heard it.
  6. An excellent compilation of African music (north, south, and everything in between) which has very good sound from the 78s sources. I'm on disc 5 of this massive set. One has to look at this as a documentary, not a straight forward music compilation, as there are narration throughout. I'm loving it!!!!
  7. Ordered mine, sound issues notwithstanding.
  8. Got mine from da bastids and like the Bill Dixon reissue, this is another stellar reissue!
  9. Reissue/ re-discovery of the year.
  10. Disc 1 of the Sam Rivers & the Rivbea Orchestra Select. Just heard the tune "Cruz." This music is HOT!!!!!!!!! Reminds me when I saw his trio play with the students at the Peabody Institute. Essential listening!!!
  11. Chuck, I put my order in for the early mitchell.
  12. Dynamite set. Really liked the boots, LOVE this box!
  13. Tough loss for the SKins. Why did they blitz on 3rd and 21???? Still, there was no running game, which is troubling. A real defensive battle for both teams.
  14. Surprised (happily surprised...) that Marion Brown is featured at a Warhol exhibition. Was there more to the two of them than their common participation in the ESP 'East Village Other' recording? Too bad that the exhibition does not travel to Paris! Looks very interesting. Sorry, no. Just that East Village Other lp.
  15. Warhol: Deadlines opens today. We just completed work on it last week. Check out the groovy staircase, where music from Velvet Underground, Marion Brown and Allen Ginsberg chants can be heard!
  16. If this newly issued 3 cd set is anything like its predecessor, Fire in My Bones, I am all over this:
  17. Alexander McQueen at the Met.
  18. haven't seen skins yet in 2011- who is your qb????? Grossman. Doing fine, at least for this week. I'm concerned about the run blocking, but they looked good Sunday.
  19. It's not a scam. Paypal is really asking for SSNs relating to taxable income. When I received the email, I thought well this was a joke. But I went directly to Paypal (not through the email), and after logging in it was asking me for the info as well. This was a month ago. A buddy of mine, a heavy ebay seller, received a similar email over six months ago.
  20. It happened to me. And a number of people I know who do more ebay transactions than I do. The new world order....
  21. Hong Kong Not enough pictures of this beautiful city.
