Check the settings on your dvd player, then the tv. On some players the default is 4:3 (depending on how old it is, I doubt this is the case for new players, and you have to switch it over to the larger aspect ratio yourself. Then check the tv settings.

Overall, the sound is brighter than what it should sound like.

It's refreshing to hear a vocalist with a real band backing her, not synthesized, nor the voice being distorted by Peter Framtpton's voice box effects.

Not to be a downer on such a great deal, but I have heard horrible things about the remastering job on that set.

Other than the decware amps, this was brought to my attention, and looks really really nice. Sound is supposed to be amazing.

The best I can do for now is a Conrad Johnson Sonographe pre amp/amp combination, which I scored late last year. Although it is solid state, it has a very tube flavor, clean and uncolored, with depth. I'll sit on these until I win the lottery or sell my paintings. Probably better chance with the lottery.....

Man, every time I see one of those Zens I am seriously tempted.... but then they come out with a new model that is far and beyond any price range I can think about.

Dusty Groove had these come in last week: I'm playing the first set now at work, and I have to say, the sound is fantastic! Forget about those Fresh Sounds, there is great detail in the Japanese cds.

I don't save it for Christmas but open it right off. Same here. Picked up recently the Fania All Stars box set and the massive Africa music box from Sterns' label.

Ahh, I remember the "good old days" when the 50% coupons came out. Printed a whole bunch of them, went to the store and had the cashier ring out each cd one by one till I ran out of coupons. That was when they had a jazz section that spilled over more than one display rack.
