Spain is head and shoulders above Iran. Try playing against a team that parks a bus in its penalty box, where every player is a defender...even the best of the best will not have an easy time scoring against a team like that. Plus Iran looked at every opportunity to break Spain’s rhythm, faking injuries at almost every collision. Had Spain scored early the game would've been quite different. That being said, Spain was lucky to score a pinball goal. I am quite stunned at how both the Saudis and Egypt played against Russia, versus how they played against Uruguay. They made it so easy for the so-so Russians to score 8 goals, where Uruguay struggled to score just 2. I'm just sayin'.... -

I’m afraid Salah is doomed to play with second rate teammates for the rest of his national career, like George Best had before him. He didn’t get more than two good passes in 90 minutes today. -

I hope you're right, and they show their potential. There are two or three of my personal favorites on the England team, along with a number of over-hyped players, i.e. Raheem. -

England is as mediocre as ever...apologies to the English contingent here. Thank God for Harry Kane. 2:1 against Tunisia...need I say more?! -

They must've tackled Neymar at least a dozen times; he drew three yellow cards on their players. This is not a "beautiful game". That being said, Mexico looked a lot better than Brazil did today. Cojones were sorely missing from the pentacampeoes... -

Messi choked again. Don't they know better not to have him take the penalty kicks?! -

Here's my summary of this historic match: SPAIN 3 - RONALDO 3 This will be viewed as one of the great bouts in the history of the game. He just cemented his "Best player ever" plaque...the narcissistic bastard. -

Salah is obviously not well. They clearly missed him today. -

Egypt put up an admirable fight. Uruguay was underwhelming, even though they [barely] won. They may win the group, but after today's game I don't see them in the quarter-finals, unless they get their s*it together. -

You are a generous man... This Saudi team is the weakest performer I've seen in the WC. They made the Russians look competent. -
Thanks, Brad, forgot about it!

Why couldn't the management at Real wait till the end of WC, you ask? My answer is this - let's say Spain bombs under Lopetegui, and then Real announces he's their new Head Coach! Would that look good for them, to hire a loser coach? I don't think so... Today's the Day. Russian team is really weak, the keeper is good, the striker's ok, defence is awful. Saudis have a shot! -
Happy Birthday Kevin Bresnahan!

A little late on the draw...nevertheless, have a nice one up there at the wonderful beaches! -
So, tomorrow is Day 1 of the FIFA World Cup 2018. http://www.espn.com/soccer/fixtures?league=fifa.world Two weakest teams will play - The Saudis vs. the Russians. Friday's match that everyone must watch is Spain - Portugal. What makes this one even more picante is that the Spanish head coach just got sacked today. Oh....and also, the USA will be hosting the World Cup 2026 , along with Mexico and Canada.

So I'm cruising the local CL ads and stumble on this here.. https://providence.craigslist.org/clt/d/stolen-records-please-help/6570781234.html First off let me state that im more interested in who stole them and not so much worried about getting them back. Im pretty sure a family member has been helping themself to some pretty rare lps.. I will offer a reward of $200 cash for confirmation of the thief. The two most notable lps are The Heath Brothers Marchin on Strata East SES19766 and the Charlie Mingus Jazz Pithecantjropus Erectus Atlantic 1237. Im sure the person has taken many more but will not have access in the future. Again, im not worried about the items and there will not be police involvement but for my own sanity I Need to know who stole them.. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i will hand over 2 one hundred dollar bills on the spot if you can help... my cell isshow contact info mike sullivan... thanks for your time...

Yep, if you buy through eBay. Like I bought this lens from a NYC b&m store that has an eBay storefront. Had I bought directly from the store , I would've paid $100 more.

Correction: you can buy as many items as you want, but do a single checkout. This way 20% off will apply to every one of your items.

Here's the code - https://pages.ebay.com/promo/2018/0309/7020.html?afsrc=1&rmvSB=true I don't remember them having a discount like thus. Bought a legendary Pentax lens that I've been lusting after. Share what you got! EDIT: This deal is valid for any ONE item. USA and Canada addresses only!

Didn't someone post a QJ Vulture interview link here? http://www.vulture.com/2018/02/quincy-jones-in-conversation.html It's interesting that both interviews are focused largely on different subjects; gives a more rounded picture of QJ's thinking. An interesting explanation of Coltrane as a steadfast interpreter of Slonimsky. Is there an example from the work you did, maybe with Michael, which illustrates what you’re talking about? Yeah, the best example of me trying to feed the musical principles of the past — I’m talking about bebop — is “Baby Be Mine.” [Hums the song’s melody.] That’s Coltrane done in a pop song. Getting the young kids to hear bebop is what I’m talking about. Jazz is at the top of the hierarchy of music because the musicians learned everything they could about music. Every time I used to see Coltrane he’d have Nicolas Slonimsky’s book. Yeah, he was famously obsessed with the Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns. That’s the one you’re talking about, right? That’s right. You’re bringing up all the good subjects now! Everything that Coltrane ever played was in that thesaurus. In fact, right near the front of that book, there’s a 12-tone example — it’s “Giant Steps.”Everyone thinks Coltrane wrote that, he didn’t. It’s Slonimsky. That book started all the jazz guys improvising in 12-tone. Coltrane carried that book around till the pages fell off. When Coltrane started to go far out with the music — “Giant Steps.” Even further out, though, like on Ascension — You can’t get further out than 12-tone, and “Giant Steps” is 12-tone. But when he was playing atonally — No, no, no. Even that was heavily influenced by Alban Berg — that’s as far out as you can get. .
