I'm not a fan of the conventional Etcetera cover. To me it just doesn't mean anything, other than a graphic designer was given a task to emulate Reid Miles, but it didn't quite work.

I admit I had never seen this cover before. I love it!

The only time I wear a watch is when I travel. Just in case... Lots of people wear an Apple Watch, or an equivalent. I, personally, never felt comfortable wearing a wristwatch myself, since I was of a watch-wearing age...my wife otoh is obsessed about having her watch on her wrist at all times.

Odd that they had an estate sale on a weekday...must have sold the house and need to get out asap.

Another possibility of why they look pristine is they were never touched for 50 years because the owner had them transferred to reel to reel tapes. People who cared about their records used to do it then, and later with cassettes. I did it to play the dubs in my Walkman and in the car.

Understood. Still, did the original owner stop buying records after 1960? Were any of the records in poly outer sleeves? That would indicate that they were cared for more or less recently.

She must've just watched the Freddy Mercury biopic. If indeed most of the records were from the 1950s, that is strange. I wonder if the person who owned them die 50 or so years ago, or moved out of the household around that time...

My wife gave me a G-shock Casio watch 3 or so years ago as a present. Not the fancy solar-powered one: a cheaper, $50 model. I could never figure out how to use any and all of the functions, and just gave up. It's in the box on my desk. I should really give it to someone smarter with the gadgetry...like my 11 y.o. The manual is probably 50+ pages long, written in a tiny script. This new watch is not a winner. It's too weird. Make something closer to a 80 y.o.-looking face. That's be more appropriate.

Yes, this is quite misleading, not to mention inaccurate. I love playing my records, I love hunting for records, but they ain't the ultimate in sound reproduction. Now if instead of the analogue LPs they wrote master tape , I'd be more agreeable.

I think he's a drummer, not an audiophile. Still, this is pretty clear that a room makes a huge part of the listening experience. I don't think most of us will realize how much improvement proper sound treatment will make, until they actually do it. Every bit helps. I wouldn't worry about deadening the room before one actually proceeds to sound-treat. It's like being concerned about the adverse effects of exercising without doing the actual exercising.

Another alternative is a DSP/room correction system, but it's more expensive, and there's one other issue which some purists may find objectionable.

It's neither of those. I don't remember the name of the line, it's made of solid wood, not particle board. That's why it survived disassembly and two house moves.I'll take photos when I get home. The rest of my Ikea purchases were eventually either thrown into trash or I took them to the Salvation Army, but these wall units are well-made.

Not an LP, but my wife's aunt bought a cheap $10 purse in the local Marshals, when visiting us from Europe. Inside - $1600 in cash... I can only assume that someone bought the purse, went out with it, then returned it, forgetting to take out the money. Pound-foolish indeed.

Unless you have 78's, I would put a rigid divider every linear foot. I tried custom, and nothing betters the Ikea LP shelving for convenience and price-point.

One cd-worth wasn't enough? Or even a 2-cd set? Just curious what would prompt this encyclopedia-sized undertaking.
