  1. You're welcome, Romualdo. Some new titles added to the list.
  2. I think it would be worthwhile to mention that this cd [and the Jazztet cd you're selling also] is part of the quite limited Verve Elite series, which has been out of print for a decade. Surprised noone has scooped it up yet.
  3. Chuck, why did Monterose sue Schlitten?
  4. Headfi forum is the place to go.
  5. I've never seen an original JARO Monterose for sale.
  6. Sounds great! Is it possible to post the photo?
  7. Holy cr..p! I just looked up these Monster Cable Miles Davis Tribute buds, and they retail for $400! I've had them sitting on top of the cabinet in my shop for 6 months, and never opened the box until today. I thought they were in the $100 range. What is your budget?
  8. I am not a headphone connoisseur, but I will recommend a pair of buds that sound superb, the Etymotic ER-4. I've had them for about 7 or 8 years. You will not believe the sound. They are not cheap. Etymotic also makes less expensive models, which are supposed to be very good. Etymotics are made in America, if that matters to you. The new Monster Cable buds are supposed to be quite good also. I was given the Miles Davis model as a gift, but haven't opened the box yet.
  9. Surprisingly, the list is clearly not 'racially-balanced'. The breakdown of the top 100 NPR-approved 'jazz songs' should be - White persons 79.6% Black persons 12.9% American Indian and Alaska Native persons 1.0% Asian persons 4.6% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander 0.2% Persons reporting two or more races 1.7% Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin 15.8% The guy from Saturn 0.01%
  10. More titles added, and price reduced. Any cd is only $7 post paid in the US.
  11. For a somewhat obscure LP, it sure went through some incarnations...at least two different covers on Xanadu alone.
  12. If, according to Paul, the Xanadu LP was dubbed from the Jaro LP, it makes no sense buying the Xanadu LP to improve the sonics of my DIW cd [i was gearing up to buy the Japanese Xanadu LP]. I wonder if the Fresh Sounds cd was dubbed from an LP as well...
  13. This 2cd set includes J.R.M.'s BN album. This can't be legit, can it?
  14. Thanks for your input. Looks like I'll have to buy the Fresh Sound cd. Surprised that the DIW release is an LP dub. I thought they were a legit operation. I wonder how this Jaro LP ended up in the Xanadu catalog, and where are the master tapes now.
  15. This is the DIW cd cover.
  16. Only the best of luck to you both!
  17. A simple net search netted that 'Straight Ahead' was originally released in 1959 as the 'The Message' on JARO Records, produced by Manny Albam, and later re-released on Xanadu, some time in the mid-1970s-early 1980s. Jaro Records discography. http://www.bsnpubs.com/nyc/toprank/toprank.html The music on the DIW cd is clearly a transfer from a mono LP. I see that there are at least three incarnations of this date on cd. Does anyone have the non-DIW version? Is it also an lp dub?
  18. Yes, it's replaced by the 'Crepe Suzette'.

  20. Excellent suggestion! My Joe Harriott stash.
  21. I've received my Zep box. It took about 2 weeks. The shipping box is a very tight fit, I recommend opening both ends of the shipping box and pushing the box set out.
  22. Still available, with a lower price.
  23. A store like this 'disk UNION JAZZ' would not turn a day's worth of profit anywhere in the US, including New York. My first xrcd [Harlem Blues] came from the 'disk UNION' flagship store in Akihabara more than a decade ago. Now they've opened a separate Jazz store. Good on them! Must be a pretty amazing place to browse.
