  1. Now THAT would be a great unissued Mosaic - All those Sonny Lester "How to strip for your husband" or whatever albums. NG
  2. Theme for BFT 69 - Porn film soundtracks MG
  3. Lialeh Charlie Brown Bernard Purdie
  4. See? All the speculation in the "your next Mosaic" thread about what my next Mosaic was going to be was wrong. MG
  5. Thank God I don't live in America! I wouldn't have ANY fucking money! Thanks for these reports, though. MG
  6. Aren't those things supposed to be safe? After all, Gordon Brown wants to build lots of them to keep the power going for our stereos. Well, they are safe - so long as you don't put them in windy places Actually, when we looked at it, it hadn't fallen over - the top and vanes had come off. Wild last night. Might have a walk down the end of our street to see if any more have suffered. But I have to put some things straight in the garden first. MG
  7. Rain. rain. Rain. Also wind. One of the electricity generating windmills on the opposite side of the valley has been blown over. MG
  8. Oh, all right then, if you say so. MG
  9. Father Ted Moms Mabley Brother John Sellars
  10. I don't remember the order: Wee I'm Getting Sentimental Over You Dewey Square Everything Happens To Me Fine and Dandy Whiskey Drinkin' Woman Alligator Boogaloo Star Eyes Cherokee I Had a Dream Bye Bye Blackbird The Griffin (trio) Things Ain't What They Used to Be What Is This Thing Called Love Interesting set list. Some of those tunes are definitely not Lou's regular fare. MG
  11. Just playing my way through another non-Mosaic The complete Donald Byrd Blue Note recordings 1963-1970 A new perspective I'm tryin' to get home Mustang Blackjack Slow Drag The creeper Fancy free Kofi Electric Byrd MG
  12. It would be a very short Select, as well - unless you included the two with Curtis Amy that are already on the Amy Select. Other than those, there's one on PJ ("Burnin'") and two on Fantasy ("Something's happenin'" and "Groove time"). Not that they shouldn't be reissued, of course... MG
  13. Bacon Fat Fats Waller Harmonica Fats
  14. That's my experience, too. I have tended to go for other sellers even when they're more expensive than Caiman - well, a few pence (where's the Scrooge smiley?) - but I would buy stuff from Caiman if the offer looked OK. I've never understood how the mail charges worked for US sellers into Amazon.UK - $2.50/2.60 isn't much for postage and packing from US -> Britain. And who gets that money anyway - Amazon or the seller? MG
  15. Well, I'm glad you joined in Dan - makes me feel a bit less lonesome out here I've got 18 or 19 (I have both the Jamea/Vinsons) on your list. Nat Adderley Quintet, Live at the 1994 Floating Jazz Festival (Chiaruscoro) personally, I'd have gone for "Workin'" (Timeless) Curtis Amy, Peace for Love (Freshsound) David "Bubba" Brooks, Smooth Sailing (TCB) Rusty Bryant, Original Quintet Complete Recordings (Lonehill) Kenny Burrell, Ellington A La Carte (Muse) James Clay, Cookin at the Continental (Antilles) Teddy Edwards, Out of this World (Steeplechase) Al Grey Live at the Floating Jazz Festival (Chiaroscoro) Red Holloway with Sweets Edison live at the 1995 Floating Jazz Festival (Chiaroscoro) Milt Jackson, Soul Route (Pablo) Etta James/Cleanhead Vinson, Blues In the Night volume 1 (Fantasy) or get "The Late Show" for the second set. Hell, get both - they are great! Red Holloway leads the band. Hank Marr, Hank and Frank (Doubletime) again, I'd have gone for "Groovin' it" (Doubletime) - trio session with Longmire. David "Fathead" Newman, Heads Up (Atlantic) Lou Rawls with Les McCann Ltd, Stormy Monday (Blue Note) Pharaoh Sanders, Crescent With Love (Evidence) Nat Simpkins, Spare Ribs (Bluejay) Lonnie Smith/Alvin Queen, Lenox and Seventh (Black & Blue) Reuben Wilson, Organ Blues (Jazzateria) and I'd have gone for "Masters of Groove meet Dr No" (Jazzateria) simply for the lovely title I've wanted that Griffin/Parlan for ages. MG
