  1. I don't have the Mildred Bailey Mosaic box. I'd be most interested in giving it a listen. Also, reading the opinions of others. Alas, there are no song samples on the Mosaic site. >Mosaic Bailey Link<
  2. I'm only recently beginning to 'get' and appreciate Louis Armstrong. Jazz music comes to you when it does. You get it when you get it. In the last two days, and most unexpectedly, I pulled my copy of the Columbia Complete Hot Five and Seven Recordings off my shelf. And... wow! There is some INCREDIBLE music here. As I've read in previous posts on this board, everything about jazz is in this box of music somewhere. In some way, Armstrong did it all. He created a foundation that has been fully expanded on, yet never lost. This music is really talking to me as I type these words. I never planned to appreciate this music and Louis Armstrong so much. I purchased the Columbia box to hold as an historic document of jazz music and Americana. It's absolutely fabulous. In these trying times, this music makes me proud to be an American. To know this American music. This music that I'm pleased to associate with my country, my culture, and that of the world. >AMG Link<
  3. I believe I'll get a pair of these. If they're good enough for Andrew Hill, they're good enough for me.
  4. WTF? I don't listen to anything but jazz. I voted 'Other.'
  5. It's amazing, that these sets could go OOP so quickly. I mean, the New Orleans jazz box is still hanging around.
  6. What about Kenny Burrell?
  7. Damn, Jazzmoose! You are efficient when this site is down. Maybe we should have b3-er close it down for another day so we can cure cancer and get out of Iraq? It's the fault of b3-er if we're still in this war next week. Anyway, your words are well written and I enjoyed reading them. (and, I'd like to see you complete the plans to use seawater as a fuel. with the price of gasoline where it is, I'm sure seawater would be much cheaper. I'd be able to buy even more Mosaics)
  8. I'm listening to Armstrong's Hot Five Sessions as I type these words. What's intersting, to me, is that there's New Orleans style jazz. And, there is Louis Armstrong. Armstrong is New Orleans jazz but, also, something so much more. Although my ear is slowly getting more tuned to the New Orleans style, often I hear a conglomeration of instruments that are jumbled together into a single sound. When I listen to Armstrong, however, I hear all the instruments and feel a groove that seems like quite a quality groove. I was reading that Armstrong was the one who broke free of the 'group' play and opened jazz to more 'solo' play. Louis Armstrong is, very much, of the New Orleans style. At the same time, he was doing something very unique for the time. To my ears, Armstrong's groups sound more 'modern' than, say, the groups of Bix or Trumbauer. But, just my opinion. I more I hear Louis, the more I hear Louis.
  9. Ginger fulfills all of my disires and dreams. We are perfect for each other. She does not Drink, Smoke, or do drugs. She can not get pregnant{ I never wanted to have children}. She will NEVER steal from me or lie to me. I AM TOTALLY HAPPY WITH HER!She is not warm to the touch She cannot think She cannot make conversation She cannot go for walks in the park She cannot hold me (and vice versa) after a less than perfect day She cannot give me an anchor when I feel I'm floating in the sea of the world She is not a person She is a piece of rubber with no feeling and no soul
  10. With a woman? Oh, sorry, just kidding. Really.
  11. I've been enjoying this picture for a few weeks:
  12. posted at AAJ listened to some Mosaics drank more beer sent more Private Messages wondered more about my life (or lack thereof)
  13. Again, I'll say that Bobby Jaspar just 'cooks' on these sessions. He is the ultimate combination of West coast and East coast jazz.
  14. In the past, when I'd read through the Mosaic catalogue, I'd always stop at the Vee Jay Mosaics, read the words and think, "I'll never purchase these worthless sets. There are too many alternate takes. I'm not that much of a collector." Damned DrJ made an excellent post and made me purchase the Vee Jay Mosaics. The sets are nothing short of excellent. They are not 'for collectors only.' They are for anybody who enjoys these performers. I don't know why I didn't place more trust in Cuscuna and Mosaic.
  15. Perfect. This says everything I've felt, with the Organssimo board being down, in one simple sentence.
  16. I understand, one-hundred percent. I have the same problem when I am at work.
  17. Damn, my 20 posts at AAJ don't count in the Organissmo numbers?
  18. I have to go to an office for work. So, when I'm home, man, I'm at home. I had a terrific day, playing my stereo and computer. I was entertained, all day, by the Organissimo board, JJ Johnson, Johnny Hodges, and Elvin Jones. Yes, an excellent day for all involved.
  19. Truthfully, when I had my 12 marathon, last Thursday, I was away from work. I sat on my bed (near my stereo), enjoyed my three new Mosaics, and played on Organissimo for the duration. The 12 hour marathon started after the Airborne truck arrived. I couldn't believe I spent 12 hours on the stereo/computer. Like, where did that day go?
  20. I work for 'a major software company.' I don't know how Invision, or any software company, can expect to sell new versions of its software if the user can't convert the old data to the new version. I'd expect Invision would provide a way to convert the data. I'm much happier with this 'old' version of the Invision software than the new version of vBulletin (used by AAJ and Jazzcorner).
  21. I agree. I definitely don't blame Mike for the problem. It appears it's a limit of the vBulletin software. To me, it's a huge sore on the side of that software. I'm surprised it's limited in that way. Maybe Mike should upgrade to Invision?
  22. The breakfast I didn't eat has faded. I'm hungry. What's for lunch?
  23. 7/4: Are you feeling better now?
