I don't have any documentation. However, it seems I read that manufactured CDs should last about 50 years. Maybe my memory is bad or what I read wasn't accurate. For most of us, 50 years from now, we won't care anyhow. I'll be 88 if I live another 50 years.

I don't think anybody argued that. I'm not certain anybody argued it either. I intend no diss at Brandon with today's post. However, here is my post, from early March, to agree with Brandon's point that CDs don't last forever. I have an Ella CD that used to be a normal CD. But, is now clear. >link<

Curtis Amy - Native Land (available on the Curtis Amy Mosaic Select). OMG, it gets me every time. Miles Davis - Masqualero (from the Sorcerer album)

Welcome back Jim Dye. I've never understood the desire to change a given board name. Not that it really matters. But, why? It's the 'handle' the poster is accustomed to. As well, it's the 'handle' the board readers are accustomed to. I could understand if you'd just started using a new name, as a new board member, and decided you'd selected the wrong thing. But, after many posts and many years, why change what works?

That's it, I can't take this anymore.....

You'd think a live person on the telephone would know, wouldn't ya? Man, I hope. I wonder, does the Mosaic website not update itself when the last set sells? Even if it's some time in the night? I don't know, just wondering... -
couw: I didn't even notice what you saw in the picture. The guy, standing over there, paying no attention to some good ol' jazz. What's his problem? Knock him out.

I listened to a few tracks off the new Prince, today, at a music store. I trust the opinions on this board. But, me no likey. The problem, it sounds too much like... errr, Prince. To my ears and mind, Prince has been mostly an 'I want your attention and your money' bore since he recorded I Wanna Be Your Lover in 1979. Hmmm... Does Prince have 'issues' with wearing clothes on his album covers? No Prince for me, please.

It's nearly 12:30AM as I type these words. I'm feeling hungry for some fried catfish.

This is not meant as an agrument. Please, don't take it that way. My copy of 'The Easy Way' lists Giuffre as playing clarinet, tenor sax, and baritone sax. No alto sax listed.
-
I scanned through Jim Hall's website and looked at the gallery. Did Jim Hall EVER have hair?
-
I'm at work as I type these words. I don't have 'The Easy Way' package with me. If I recall correctly, does the package say that Giuffre plays clarinet, alto, and tenor? I don't know. I could be wrong.

It's bad enough seeing all the same advertising crap pasted all over NASCAR. However, NASCAR, from the local tracks to the big leagues, always has been nothing but a moving commercial, since it costs so much money to keep the cars running. This is true from the dirt tracks to Daytona. But, baseball?

If my memory is good, I have seven from this series. The only one that doesn't have the liner notes insert is the Giuffre. I believe I can determine the correct instrumentation by listening. However, I'd appreciate some liner notes to confirm which instrument Giuffre is paying on a given selection.
-
The only thing I was referring to was that, in this series, you either get the insert or you don't.
-
This is what I thought. That there wasn't much to print for the liner notes. This series of re-issues often has, for liner notes, only an exploded view of what the backcover says.
-
I bought 'The Easy Way' today. I was wondering if my copy was the 'one' that didn't have the liner notes included. Alas, I learned from this thread that this title doesn't offer liner notes.

Any Comments on H.R.S. Sessions?

To my ears, this set gets better the further you dig into it. The first disk starts with, what is to me, a New Orleans style jazz sound. As you progress, from disk to disk, the set becomes more Ellingtonian. It's interesting and enjoyable, while listening to the HRS box, to follow the music through its paces. To begin with the New Orleans oriented sound, and observe the growth of the music as the influence of Ellington becomes more and more apparent. -
I'm not a 'brand' person. I don't care what brand is on a product if I like the product. For example, I'll drink Old Milwaukee beer because I like it. I don't care what thoughts/feelings the brand name conjures up. When it comes to stereo equipment, however, I have always thought/hoped that an audiophile brand would mean something, versus a non-audophile brand. I've been investigating headphones recently. I can't test the equipment before purchase because the equipment is not sold in stores in my area. I have wanted, so badly, to learn that Grado and/or Sennheiser would be the way to go. I wanted to learn that an audophile company would be known for the 'best' headphone. I've learned that Sennheiser tends to be considered the standard for the best. From many, many of the reviews I've read, however, Sony (a non-audophile company, in my opinion), makes the headphones that people are liking. This agrees, 100%, with DrJ's posts in this thread. another 'positive' Sony review

The server may have been down. I don't know. I didn't want to upload the pictures to the Organissimo board because they are 'larger' files. I didn't want to cause posters to this board, who are using a dialup connection, to have to wait for the download every time they might few this thread (nor will the board allow a file of size larger than 100k). However, you can click on the links I provided if you choose to. In this way, the picture viewing is optional. Wait, you want to see pictures of 'me?' The picture links are working for me as I'm typing these words.

.:.impossible: Thanks for the very nice words. You said as much as I'd be able to say. I've spent many an hour, too, enjoying, wondering, and seeing, in my mind's eye, Elvin Jones playing hell out of a drum set. Drums up in your face, and at the same time, in just the right place. Elvin is not my 'absolute' favorite drummer. He is tied for #1 along with Max Roach and Art Blakey. I've always felt a 'comfort' that Elvin Jones, Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, and Rudy Van Gelder are still a part of this world. They represent a living link, from the current day to the old day. Not that I will ever have the opportunity to speak to either of the men, I know they are still living, thinking, and were 'there' when the music went down. Also, thanks for posting the fantastic picture. Your picture is becoming more meaningful and ironic as the days pass. I might have to join 7/4 in purchasing the Elvin Jones Mosaic.
