  1. Pro Teens „Pristines“ (Broken Circles) 2017
  2. Elizabeth Gundersen "Falling For You" (self-released) 2017
  3. Another Eddie Palmieri winner ....
  4. I bought the earlier Ambrosie recordings as new release but didn`t bother too much about them ..... after the new recording for Aparte drew a lot of praise in 2011 I was curious and re-listened to the Ambrosie platters again and learned to appreciate Gaillard`s unagitated still affluent performances but felt no motivation to buy additionally the new set from her .... btw as the Ambrosie are nearly impossible to find nowadays (the label went defunct) the likely choice is to go via the newer recordings ....
  5. Produced by influental DJ Bill 'Hoss' Allen in 1966 this mighty fine effort remained the sole lp until 1970 (the next one aka "Lovin Blues" saw release on Deluxe) but Earl Gaines moved on for a string of excellent 45`s for the Hollywood, Deluxe and Seventy Seven labels ....
  6. Thnx .... good for the artists but not so for an unified reissung approach .....
  7. Agreed, the "Live On Tour" aka "At The Umbria Jazz Festival" recordings are outstanding ....
  8. Superb performances .... btw telling cover art ....
  9. Groovesoaked stuff …. some superb wailing by Rusty Bryant and a showcase for the soulful capabilities of Mr. Idris Muhammad .... although not being a dedicated (jazz)guitar follower this one features some enlightening performances by the semiobscure Wibert Longmire .....
  10. Using the forum as guidance for my playlist .... Ben Riley R.I.P ....
  11. Nice King Japan edition ....
  12. Thnx to forum member "kinuta" for reminding me of this platter ....
  13. Thnx for sharing, kinuta. Completely agree on your assesment .... especially Mighty Sam McLain`s slow but deeply burning "Give It Up To Love" is a big favorite of mine. I was lucky enought to see him in performance around the time of this release. He had strong presence on stage and his voice + showmanship made me wonder why he never found wider acclaim .... Will play The Dramatics "Watcha "See Is Whatcha Get" .... Due to my former profound interest in Southern Deep Soul I`ve assembled over the yers a larger 45 collection - don`t listen to them anymore but not prepared to part with these (although lot of them carry danceble tracks on the A-sides and are indemand nowadays making them in retrospect hilarious investments ) ....
