  1. Really like this. Certainly different. I have almost all of Joe's cds but am as yet agnostic about this one.
  2. Outstanding, as are all Mark Masters recordings.
  3. Don't miss it. Our rental place has just closed down. No doubt a victim of Amazon Prime & Netflix.
  4. Lovely ghost from the past.
  5. A Private War - Michael Heineman (2018) Brutal and gripping. Had me transfixed. Praise to Rosamund Pike for an inspired performance. Recommended.
  6. 7C here with blue skies. The wind makes it feel quite a bit colder.
  7. Disc 5 The Iron Men
  8. I was going to start The Narrows but the consensus seems to be that it's best to read The Poet first. ...................................................................................................................... Just finished this. What a verbose slog. It could easily lose 100 pages, Whenever the evildoer gets his comeuppance four chapters before the end, you know you're being set up for ' the big reveal '.
  9. Disc 6 - Setting Standards Disc 2 Jack Sheldon & His West Coast Friends/ Pete Jolly & His West Coast Friends
  10. Beautiful Boy - Felix van Groeningen (2018) On the one hand an unflinching look at the ravages of methamphetamine addiction, on the other an utterly depressing two hours I wouldn't want to repeat, ever.
  11. Can You Ever Forgive Me ? - Marielle Heller (2018) Smart and enjoyable. Recommended.
  12. Disc 3 - Concert Ensemble From ' If Beale Street Could Talk '. Wonder who's on sax ?
  13. If Beale Street Could Talk - Barry Jenkins (2018) Beautiful, haunting and crushingly sad. I saw 2001 in Cinerama the first week of it's initial release, in London. The effect is indeed long lasting.
  14. Widows - Steve McQueen (2018) Really enjoyed it.
