  1. I do agree about the music, I'd listen to Ray anytime rather than Johnny Cash. What makes Walk The Line my pic is the acting and the fact that Phoenix & Witherspoon actually did the vocals, and did them very well imo.
  2. Bohemian Rhapsody - Bryan Singer (2018) Rami Malek is good as Freddie Mercury. The band do a very credible job of imitating Queen. The final concert is note perfect. And maybe that's the film's biggest flaw, it's imitation. Didn't really work for me as a film, it seemed all over the place. Walk The Line is still king of the musicbios imho.
  3. Great session but Tyrone Washington sounds as if he's in the kitchen making a cup of tea ! Didn't anyone listen to the playback and order a rerecording ? Seriously, I'd be interested to know how the vinyl sounds.
  4. Some helpful suggestions, all duly noted. I'd recommend the Icelandic police procedural series by Arnaldur Indridason. Read in order, starting with Jar City.
  5. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check them out but would like to finish the Bosch series first, which is clearly going to take some time.
  6. I'm slowly working my way through the Bosch series. I've enjoyed them all so far.
  7. The Wife - Björn Runge (2017) Glenn Close is very good.
  8. Cold War - Paweł Pawlikowski (2018) Loved it. The best film of 2018 for me, with masterful direction, cinematography, acting and editing. From a dismal year for film, this is the one that will stand the test of time.
  9. Abandoned ship after 120 pages. Unenjoyable and a chore to read.
  10. The Children Act - Richard Eyre (2017)
  11. I Am Love - Luca Guadagnino (2009)
  12. Suspiria - Luca Guadagnino (2018) Solid reinterpretation is well worth watching but can't compare with the mindblowing original.
  13. I can say with confidence that this is the worst Poirot I have ever seen on tv.
  14. His other Pinter film is Turtle Diary. If you haven't seen it, it's available on Youtube, and no where else as far as I know.
  15. Betrayal - David Jones (1983) Ben Kingsley's best performance IMO. Copied from VHS. Nobody did Pinter like Sir Ben.
