But sometimes I want to just wade through all the mess just because it's a Cannonball mess. Especially with the spoken intros.
Yes it’s a lovely ride. That deep voice and the funny things he’s sayin: makes you want to be right there in that club. I must say I don’t skip those tracks with Deasy either. Except for Benny Hen which is just silly.

still have mixed feelings about it this record. It contains some of my favorite Cannonball (the title track is amazing). The very average and cliche guitarist Mike Deasy spoils some of the tracks with his boring rock n roll playing. If he was not there that night this would have been one of Cannonballs best live dates. I still love it for all the tracks without Deasy. Cannonball surely had some soul!

such a great 3LP compilation from MCA Japan. Great discographical information. For 10 euros truly a steal. And it might be just my imagination or what I want to hear: but the sound quality is the best I’ve heard up till now with these Columbia/Decca records. Better than my They don’t sound like they were recorded in the 40’s.

Nice haul Pim. Who's the seller?
I didn't have any money from relations but still managed to order
A 1959 issue of Brubeck's 'Time Out'. Just the cover design alone is worth the entry price but I love the music
An original press of Mingus 'Tonight At Noon' because I'm on such a big Mingus trip at the moment and for the same reason
Dannie Richmond Quartet - Ode to Mingus which I've really been surprised by and enjoying through streaming this holiday.
All from UK sellers so no Brexit-tax issues
RecordcityJP.
Nice original presses you scored. I don’t think I even own 1 original pressing. Would love to hear one enjoy!

That Cannonball LP with Wynton Kelly is one of his very best, imo.
Definitely! Love the opener especially but this was also one of my first jazz cds so fond memories! A damaged OJC digipack that really got me into Cannonball.

Got some money for my birthday from my family in law so time for an order from my favorite Japanese vendor. With 17 dollars a piece including shipping it was a good haul again that arrived with only 4 days. I’m happy

So happy to have recieved a paperback copy for my birthday/Christmas by my wife. This is one impressive reference. The amount of information and details is amazing. This one’s going to be in my music room
I’d dare to say that for the die hard Coltrane fan this book is not to be missed.

Are we taking beer or LPs? 😄 It makes me want to try the beer at least
Haha well with Spanish Bitch it counts for both the beer as the vinyl! They are both highly recommended. If you’re ever stuck in the Amsterdam area I will treat you on both

It's funny you mention Westvleteren... Since this summer their beer is available at some shops in the Netherlands (Mitra) legally for a reasonable price (4.80 or so)... Meaning, at least, that some competitors (Pannepot for instance) are now pricier and harder to find... I've now given Westvleteren as a present two or three times, had one or two myself... But still find it hard to accept that they've decided to transition to becoming an ordinary special beer
Fully agree. The fact that it was so hard to obtain was part of its charm.

Every year the Phineas or every year the Talisker?
The Talisker. Every year one glass. It was a gift from my father in law and it’s in a price class I that I would not buy a drink in. It’s something special and still enough left in the bottle for next year 😁 have the same thing with the Westvleteren beer which I only drink on special occasions.
Phineas is more a monthly thing I guess 😎

the new Sam reissue. Glad I’ve traded in my Japanese issue with profit because this one sounds even better. Nice job
What vinyl are you spinning right now??

I became aware of this Hubbard record trough this forum so thanks guys. Big Hubbard, Henderson and Hutch fan but never noticed it for the almost 20 years I am listening to jazz now. But better late than never. Damn I wish I was there.
