I'd think so, too! I rang them up to ask and that's the answer I got, and the guy even had the guts to add: "and now, what exactly is your question?" - ha! No use debating with someone like that! The fees they add here are about the same, but around 50€ is tax- and fee-free (same if it's Europe or overseas though, as we're not part of the former either). Oh, can big box sets also be on backorder? I somehow assumed only Selects weren't pressed all at once. Like the Pullen sets' masters being destroyed before reaching the 5000 limit?

The mosaic customs declaration on both the defective and replacement orders listed a value of only $35. Not enough for Dutch customs to bother on both occasions, though a few Euros above the limit. When they do charge you for a €25 import all sorts of administrative costs are added and you are presented with a bill of never less than about €13. If Mosaic always declare a value near $100 too low on customs declarations, I'll keep taking my changes ordering from the US. Making people pay for a routine check when no customs duties are due is preposterous. Aren't these civil servants' wages already payed out of tax payers' money?

Today the replacement arrived in good order (number 2405, the damaged set had number 400).

Keep in mind that it can take a while for a package to cross the pond and be delivered. The other way around I usually get packages from the United States within 10-14 days, but sometimes it takes longer - at the moment I'm still waiting for a set that was mailed on December 26... I'm waiting for a package from Amazon UK that was shipped 2 weeks ago. OTOH, I received a package from The Netherlands (from subdist.com) in a week. This month a package containing books from Amazon UK (not third party) I ordered with Free Super Saver Delivery was actually lost in transit. A first for me. Of course they promptly send me a replacement with expedited shipping. The lost package's last known location was Grimbergen, Belgium. I wonder if it'll ever arrive in The Netherlands and what it was doing in Belgium in the first place.

The DVD that came with Vol.1 was region-free (and NTSC unfortunately, to my eyes PAL is better) and I think it's very likely this one will be too. And one track, Walkin', included in the Complete Columbia Album Collection was excised for undoubtedly no good reason. I read somewhere something to do with the Carpenter estate, a person only credited with composing the song in question? Still pisses off. a dick is a dick is a dick ... ?
