  1. More, same episode. "I hate that cocksucker!" "Ha ha, they called him cocksucker."
  2. I thought this was a thread they would pursue. They did do an encore: season 4, episode 13.
  3. I have this on the way from CD Japan. Should be here this week.
  4. I love that album and the complete "on the corner" CD box set is simply incredible Have been spinning that set this week and agree. Just too bad that Bob Belden didn't get the permission to put out the 2x4CD sets ! I think the previously unreleased material from the later sessions included in that set is mostly underwhelming. The introduction price was inflated. What material would have been on those 2x4CD sets, Sidewinder? I've seen mention that he wanted to do 4cds covering 1972 then another 4 covering 73 to 75. this would have included stuff that Miles didn't play on but which added insight into the development of the music. Sony/BMG put a stop to this plan apparently. Thanks. I only new there was more material that wasn't included. A bit of it was up on Dimeadozen at some point.
  5. It will be interesting to see to how many copies this second edition is limited. First edition was 2000 copies.
  6. Late, do you also have the Change of the Century SHM, WQCP 1081? Is it of similar quality?
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcKT4wbL1fw
  8. For the North Americans. What's your opinion on Louis van Gaal? The British media loves to see him suffer.
  9. Clunky, are you sure? You need one or more $60.000 systems, Superman like super hearing, and incontinence diapers to make sense of the Atlantic Jazz catalogue on digital. But if the diaper fits ...

  11. Perhaps I'll reluctantly try some of the Ornettes. Maybe the SHM of This Is Our Music. I did used to own a SHM-CD of Giant Steps from around that time and didn't like it, but we'll see.
  12. I guess others are just better endowed in the organic and electronic departments. That's cool.
  13. I have a pair of speakers now, but I always found a good set of headphones can be very helpful when comparing different CD editions. And sure, we've been over this before. I just find it so puzzling people like these Japanese Atlantics, because they sound so blatantly manipulated to my ears. I mean, the Bethlehems from Japan like East Coasting were loud, but otherwise sounded good. When on speakers this loudness is less of an issue, but white hot treble is just that.
  14. I found the recent Japanese Atlantic remasters to be pumped up with white hot treble and loud (Mingus, Blakey/Monk, Lloyd). A lot of people like theirs pumped up like that. Joy of a Toy. Perhaps the Ornette's are better than the other Japanese Atlantics?
  15. Much inproved? That's tempting, as I've always loved this date. The SHM has the entire extra session, I'm sure, right? Improved how? - if I might ask. The extra session is included in its entirety. I always found the Connoisseur flat and uninvolving. YMMV.
  16. IMO if you want to know how good The Shape Of Jazz To Come can sound in the digital domain try the ORG Music hybrid SACD mastered by Bernie Grundman. Seriously, I'll eat my shoes if these Japanese discs sound better.
  17. Jazz might have a reputation for elitist snobbery, but I believe people avoid the genre because they are genuinely not interested. It often upsets them. The majority of people like either sentimental popular(ized) garbage, or knuckle-dragging electronic beats. Philistines.
  18. I think I read about it in Kelley's Monk Biography. Or else heard about it in Hannah Rothschild's documentary The Jazz Baroness.
  19. Lift Every Voice is one my favourite Blue Notes and much improved on SHM.
  20. Don't have Java installed (OS X 10.9.5).
  21. Eddie Gale's Ghetto Music arrived today. I had passed it by until it was recently mentioned in this thread by Lon and Alexandros.
  22. Manchester United - Arsenal, FA Cup quarter final on BBC One HD. No sighting of Atzmon as musical warm-up act as of yet.
  23. You're free to buy his CDs and books. Want to hear him live in Manchester? Throw him a private loft party.
  24. In the Netherlands, three radical imams recently had their visa's rescinded. They were going to speak at a benefit, not preach in a mosque as far as I'm aware. If next year they plan to come over again as the Great Oud Trio, should we let them enter? If they are legitimate musicians, then yes. But we both know they aren't. Your straw man argument is absurd. Even if they were legitimate musicians, no. The point is we refuse such people any platform because of, among other things, their holocaust denials, dangerous lies we should not tolerate.
  25. That interview on ynetnews.com was published on 14 November, 2011. If these weren't Atzmon's own words surely he would have taken action by now. As for Mein Kampf, it might be for sale on the American and British amazon, but it is banned in other countries like the Netherlands. I would be surprised if you could have it shipped to localities it is banned through amazon.com or .uk. Or order it through amazon.nl (sells ebooks only at this moment in time).
