  2. I think it's a wise decision for Coffee shops etc. to provide free wireless service. Like Claude said, it has become very cheap, and the Cafes will get more customers this way.
  3. Two weeks ago I entered another phase in my web life, Only 2 years after my previous Internet leap - connecting to ADL, I am now officially a wireless Internet geek! My home is now a wireless Internet zone so I surf the net wherever I want! I think it’s geekily cool to write this post in bed! I must confess though, that the primary use for my home wireless network is doing some work in some strange hours from bed or in front of the TV, but that's even less cool so try to ignore it... I any case, it actually changed my work habits. I used work from home at least one day a week, since commuting to work takes over an hour each way. In the past 2 weeks I established a temporary office in my Jerusalem day in a coffee shop - arranging meetings there and working in between meetings on my laptop. Since the entire Jerusalem center now has a free wireless internet access, and many coffee shops also provide free wireless hot spots, I am able to check my emails, talk with the office via messanger, etc. - all from the coffee shop. Not to mention surf the net while drinking my double espresso. For me, Wireless Internet is indeed a giant leap for mankind
  4. I like Lockjaw and Griff's version in: I also like Reinhardt and Grapelli's version.
  5. I like these sessions: Stan and Roach switch places. Every one of them is on 4 tracks. All is with Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse group w/ Frank Rosolino, Conte Candoli & Bill Perkins. Another fine disc is this: 2 1954 sessions, one is 4tet lead by Conte Candoli, with Levey. The other one is a 6tet lead by Stan Levey w/ Conte Candoli, Zoot Sims, Jimmy Giuffre (bari). Botj CDs are

  12. You think 1 Giga byte webmail is huge? Take a look at the new and free webmail of HiRiders: It's HUGE!! - 1 Terabyte!!!Yeah - that's right - 1,000 times larger than Gmail. AND you also get 500 Megabyte attachments!! That's pretty incredible, don't you think?! The mail interface is very basic but it works rather nicely from what's I've checked. It offers spam filter, address book etc. Hirides is a byker's site, sponsored by Kawasaki. VRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!
  13. Thad Jones! Some of his finest recordings on the Fantasy Catalog: The Debut session is probably my favorite among Thad's sessions as a leader. I even prefer them over his the Blue Note albums. Thad's Milestone session "Mean What You Say" session with Co-leader Pepper Adams is also excellent (I disagree with the Pinguin guide on that one) And finally Thad's Period session "Mad Thad" is quite enjoyable. With sidemen such as Flanagan, Watkins and Elvin Jones or Jo Jones and the two Franks it can't be bad.
  14. This is a very very good session, imho. I like it very much, Both Lee and Cliff Jordan are in a terrific shape. I'd grab this one. *********** Actually, this was not a Lee Morgan session, but rather a joint venture of several of Dizzy's 1957 big band. Al Grey, Billy Mitchell and Wynton Kelly also play on that CD. It's a joyful event, if not a great one. Get this CD if you enjoy the special combination of Al Grey and Billy Mitchell I know I do.
  15. Jimmy Cleveland pretty much steals the show from CT on this LP, imho.
  16. Excellent choice, Leeway! I'll spin this CD this weekend!
  17. Happt birthday, David. Have a great and Jazzy year!

  19. Happy 79 B-day to the GROOOOOOOOVE Master
  20. Another Israeli group is: Ziryab Trio Ziryab trio was founded to give a deeper expression of Oriental Art music and its various genres. The members of Ziryab, who are also members of the Bustan Avraham group, decided that besides the ethnic fusion of Bustan Avraham, they want to further explorebe the rich oriental tradition in order to create new and original music. As in Bustan, Ziryab has both Jewish Israeli and Arab Israelis members: Taiseer Elias – Oud; Nassim Dakwar – Violin, Zohar Fresco – Percussion. The ensemble in its instrumental make up is the basis nucleus of any Middle Eastern classical music ensemble (Takht), which usually includes five instruments: Oud, Violin, Qanoun, Riqq (Similar to Tambourine) & Ney (reed flute). Ziryab is performing Arab & Turkish music from the 19th and 20th century. Here's a song (in LoFi, sorry) called Khutwat Habibi (steps of my beloved) by Aboul Wahab – the most famous Arab singer ever. Abdoul Wahab was also an Oud player and a famous composer.
