  1. Interesting... that would explain why sometimes when I accelerate, I get no power and I hear this "clicking" sound. I bet it is the TPS that is bad or going bad. I'm going to have to figure out where it is.
  2. I took The Big Gig (ie, my 1995 Ford E150 conversion van) into the shop today because it has been shifting rather hard lately. Sometimes its fine and will run for hours on the highway just smooth as butter. Sometimes it jerks and hesitates and shifts hard. It also idles really high when it's warmed up. When it shifts hard, the check engine light comes on for a bit, then turns off. So on recommendation from my regular mechanic, I took it to a transmission specialty shop today. The transmission was rebuilt at 90,000 miles (the van has 143k on it). They drove it, felt the hard shifts, and ran the computer diagnostic on it. They got back some codes dealing with the TP sensor. They said it could also be vacuum related. They suggested taking it to another place, since they only do transmissions. Any ideas? Can I replace a TP sensor myself? Gotta get this baby running smooth for organissimo's trip out East in two weeks.
  3. Whoa. What's on the Jimmy Smith?
  4. I had a great day. Spent most of it with the family and then enjoyed a great reunion of a band I was in 10 or more years ago. Seemed like every musician in Lansing was there. It was a really wonderful night. Thanks, everyone!
  5. Thanks, y'all! I have a nice day ahead of me. Got to work on an ad for a magazine (graphic design), do some mixing on some live organissimo stuff (watch out!) and spend some time with the family. My father-in-law brought over some ribs that are pre-cooked... just need to throw them in the oven. Oh yeah! Tonight I'm jamming with a band I used to play with back in the early 2000's for a reunion show. The Blue Avenue Delegates. There are musicians coming into town from as far away as Japan to play the gig. It's going to be a blast!
  6. Read the thread. The reasons are in there. Your post did not add anything to the discussion that wasn't already stated a hundred times over and also repeated a story from the deleted thread that I don't want here. I stand by my actions. It's nothing personal. No reason to get all bent out of shape.
  7. Hays posts here (or has in the past). He's on Bill Stewart's album Keynote Speakers with Larry Goldings. Just the three of them. Great record.
  8. AH! I've seen those on Triple D (Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) being made a joint in Pittsburgh. YUM!
  9. Damn, that looks good, catesta. Gonna have to find a recipe for that!
  10. There is a section in the introduction that invites artists to opt out if they choose. The first random musician I selected had apparently taken them up on the offer. There was writeup on the fellow, but no music. Cool! I think it's a great idea, just wondering if the artists had any say.
  11. So just curious; did the artists who played there know they were being recorded and the recordings would someday become public?
  12. Ok, Cliff. You don't like Allen. We get it. I am at fault for his behavior and others as well, allowing the posts. As others have noted, he is extremely intelligent and has a lot of information to share. That's what this is about. Let's share the information and loose the crap. It should start here, in this thread. No more insults, no more crap.
  13. Good game last night; just caught the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Billups, as usual, made great decisions down the stretch. The Lakers, as a whole, did not.
  14. I've defended this place more times than I can count as a home of reasonable people and great information. I've also defended it as "not being as bad as other boards". but I've been spending a lot of times on other forums lately. In particular, on a forum run by Keyboard Magazine. And as expected, since the forum reflects on the magazine, they run a tight ship over there. And everybody knows it and acts accordingly and there are no stupid tit for tat exchanges or direct insults or general personal ugliness over there. I'm sorry to say it, but Volkher speaks the truth. This board has, overall, been more of an albatross to our career than not. It is unfortunate that people cannot separate the forum from the band, but that's the way it works. The best solution may be to separate the two in name (ie, re-naming this place), although the link is already etched and the damage has been done. I don't think Bev has anything to apologize for. She is a wake-up call. This is not an insular environment; we're talking about real people with real families and loved ones that are still living. I believe we should be able to talk about all aspects of a musician's career including the "negative" parts, but do so in a respectful manner and without spreading rumors. I will be completely honest here: A big part of me wanted to shut the board down the other day and just walk away. As I weigh the pros and cons I can't help but think that I'm crazy to keep it going. We've gotten a few gigs from it (thanks Barack and Ron!) and sold a couple hundred CDs through it. Is it really worth the trouble not only to me personally but the band in general? When I opened this place, I thought it would be a boon to the band... get our name out there... well, it certainly has done that, but not in a good way. But I also feel a responsibility to the membership here. I have made some really good friends through this place. A lot of people come here and enjoy the information. And so I'm racking my brain trying to figure out a way to reel it in and not kill the spirit of the board. Bare with me as I figure out the best way to do just that. In the meantime, I will say this: I will not tolerate rudeness and insults between members of the board anymore. This includes the political forum, although there will be a bit of leeway there.
  15. Happy Birthday, Chuck! Wish we could hang more often.
  16. For the record, I deleted the Stan Getz stories thread because I thought that it had spiraled out of control and exposed some of the very ugliest sides of this board, sides that I am extremely ashamed of and that cause worry in my personal life. I purposely did not even load this forum today until now. I sometimes don't check in more than once a day because of the ugliness that is on here. You all know what I'm talking about. I really wish people would think before they post. I'm tired of being passive about it. Expect a lot more deletions, thread closings, and the like if things continue down the same path. I've been too lackadaisical in the moderation of this board. And finally, I will remind everyone that this board reflects on me personally and the band, organissimo, in general. Please keep that in mind the next time you want to start insulting each other and spreading rumors. That said, I wouldn't take all this the wrong way. The board has been here for six years; growing pains are part of the nature of the beast. I'm still trying to determine the best way to keep things positive and more importantly ON TOPIC. The key is "moderation". I think I am over-all fair in the handling of this forum. Thank you for your understanding.
  17. There's nothing new to announce right now so the forum is cleared.
  18. Just a guess , but perhaps Bev Getz threatened a libel suit ? No.
  19. Okay, I didn't start watching the NBA until around 2001. Please explain! I'm dying here!!!!
  20. We played the Mitch Albom show on WJR in Detroit a few days after Denny got out of jail and he was on the show via phone. The host (who was filling in for Albom (who was following the Pistons in the play-offs)) mentioned that the keyboardist in the studio had a real B3 and Leslie in the studio. Denny said, "Really!? Wow. God bless him!"
  21. Pretty awesome, Johnny! Great idea, too... to send discs to those you admire. If only Chuck liked me.
  22. http://www.pchell.com/support/welcomescreen.shtml or http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm
  23. What version of Windows? XP? Vista? Win98?
  24. Well, its a B3 in name and looks only. The tone generation is all digital now. But the new ones are pretty cool.
