  1. I watched this again... damn, that ending vamp is funky as a mofo, if I do say so myself! ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"> Pass it along, brothers and sisters. Jazz you can dance to. Oh, the horror! The link:
  2. The admission that you still use the Leppard to score chicks. Isn't that how you impressed Rachel?
  3. off topic I've been spending too much time on other forums that only have a single "room".
  4. Uh... yes, I can. Nobody was doing what Wayne Krantz, to pull the first name out of my hat, is doing now 60 years ago. I listen to lots of current jazz. Yep... and Metheny. As far as organists, since that's what I mainly listen to in the jazz realm, I'd take Larry Goldings or John Medeski over the bulk of folks that came after Jimmy Smith in the 60s, as much as I love them.
  5. And every time we play someone comes up to me and says something along the lines of, "I don't like jazz, but I like your music!"
  6. Yes. Yes it is. And is it Grobin or Groban? Either way, it's c-r-a-p. I was trying to figure out how you found that and then remembered we have a new thread, a mere five years after that old one, lamenting the death of jazz. WHY WON'T IT JUST DIE!?!?!? Funny stuff. I still like the idea of Jimmy's Rants!
  7. There's nothing on TV right now and it's too hot to do anything, so I'm watching this Live From Abbey Road program and it has Josh Grobin on it. Why does this guy have a career? He'd be great... if he was trying out for a high school production of The Music Man. He just got done talking about artists like Paul Simon and Bjork taking risks and then started singing this lame-ass song that sounds wholly whitebread and not risky at all. Oh well. It takes all kinds I guess.
  8. We had the people dancing at the Old Town Jazz Festival on Friday.
  9. 23... missed the Statue of Liberty and the VHF. I'm not surprised that the quiz claims that the average person only gets 7... the questions seemed geared to older folks.
  10. I have a request into tech support to both look into the IPS driver errors and upgrade our software to the latest version. Haven't heard back from them, though.
  11. This morning I woke up to around 35 new "members" with variations on the name "porno for [insert fetish here]" and about 85 new "members" with the name "Buy Cheap [insert pharmacutical here]". I think it's related to those denial of service attacks that have been going around the internet today.
  12. Somehow it popped up on vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/5971304
  13. I think we're done here. Apology accepted. Doesn't look like Carole is coming back.
  14. I don't think the gender of the poster matters. There's really no excuse for being overly rude to someone, especially someone new to the board.
  15. Seems to me the guidelines are pretty simple and straight-forward. Treat each other with respect. Would you actually say what you're about to post to this person's face? If not, don't post it. We don't get that much spam here and it's quickly taken care of. There's no need for anyone to be on the defensive. I find it disheartening that Carole emailed me first because she was having troubles logging in and she was very excited about posting and the first response to her first post is rude and insulting.
  16. The local station that filmed it is worried about copyright infringement, even though I told them that I compressed the video from the broadcast of the show and put it up myself. I don't see how a station could be liable for one of their viewers "taping" a show and putting it up on YouTube, copyright or not. The liability would lie with me, right? Besides, YouTube just takes it down if they get a complaint. But the fellow that we're working with there didn't want to take any chances and asked that I take it down for a bit while he consults with the appropriate people. I have no interest in jeopardizing someone's position, so...
  17. It means we would have to print up a minimum of 5,000 DVDs in order for them to grant us a license. We'd then have to pay a certain amount in licensing for each of those DVDs. IWe haven't sold 5,000 copies of ANYTHING we've put out yet, so obviously that's not a wise thing to do. If they'd let us license say 1,000 DVDs, it might be worthwhile. BTW, I had to take the video off YouTube for a bit, but it's still on my facebook page.
  18. No need to apologize and please stick around.
  19. There is some seriously weird behavior being displayed in this thread. Time for some clean-up.
  20. This was a show that we did on WKAR out of Michigan State University called BackStage Pass. They did a great job on the production. We're selling DVDs of the show but unfortunately we couldn't get the rights to Green Onions (the publisher demands a minimum of 5,000 units) so this cut is only on the live broadcast of the show on public television. organissimo did the same show; look for that in the fall on public TV. The current plan is to release a DVD/CD of the entire organissimo show... we played our butts off and it's all original material so no licensing issues.
