  1. It has slowed down. Visitors using the links on CDUniverse have gone from the 400's to the low 100's. Our last check was for $27.24. I have not gotten another check from Amazon since August.
  2. Could be and I've thought of that. But unfortunately, unless we want to be barraged with ads for Cialis, penis-enlargement, porn, lotteries, Ugandan business deals, etc., that's what I have to do (ie, manually validate all new registrations).
  3. Who cares?! It's television in its absolute worst form.
  4. It was a very fun gig and great to meet felser and his wife. We had a packed house and got a standing ovation at the end of the show, something the soundman couldn't remember anyone else receiving. We sold a bunch of CDs, which is very helpful... gotta kept paying off those recording debts. The set list was as follows, for those who care: Set 1 Breakin The Ice (B. DeVos) Greaze Monkey (Alfredson, Gloss, Marsh) Smokin' Section (Alfredson, Gloss) Trace Amount (Alfredson, Gloss) Blake's Shake (Alfredson, Gloss) Bleeker (Alfredson, Gloss, Marsh) Blue Comedy (M. Gibbs) Pumpkin Pie (Alfredson, Gloss) Set 2 Como En Vietnam (S. Swallow) Timeline (P. Metheny) - dedicated to Michael Brecker Life Wish (Gloss) That Dirty Thang (B. Heid) Tenderly (Gross, Lawrence) Running At The Mouth (Marsh) Jimmy Smith Goes To Washington (Alfredson) We had a blast and we hope to be back in Philly sometime in March.
  5. You gotta go, dude. All the cool kids are doing it.
  6. I hope you can make it! It would be great to see you again, and you won't have to help schlepp the gear this time, I promise!
  7. You really want a lock of Randy's hair? Not a bad idea, however.
  8. I got lots of live stuff sitting here. Might be able to put some up on the ol' homepage. I'm excited to get back into the studio. We have some great new tunes and I've been experimenting with layering the organ with various sounds (subtle and not so subtle) in ways that haven't really been done yet (so far as I've heard). April is the target month to start recording. I plan on doing a pre-pay / donation / ArtistShare type of deal again, like last time. In the meantime, I'm still trying to get the footage of us from the Detroit International Jazz Festival. They had a bad-ass boom jib arm and everything! I want to put it up on YouTube. I'll post it here first, of course.
  9. Gary Versace is a seriously bad mofo on the organ. And Shepik is no slouch. I'm really looking forward to this. Shepik released a couple of CDs under his own name with really interesting Middle Eastern-influenced jazz. He also had a trio with organist Nate Shaw called Mr Lucky that Joe saw in Grand Rapids (wish I did, but I probably had a gig). Maybe you just need to work on your humming. And there have been quite a few trio CDs featuring organ on ECM. John Abercrombie with Dan Wall and also Abercrombie with Jan Hammer back in the 70s (called Timeless... cool record).
  10. Then you have no reason to be here. Go fuck yourself.
  11. Actually, they shouldn't sound worse at all. On the contrary, all those "avenues" you mention employ parity checks on the packets, so no information is lost due to data errors. Thus, the copy you see is basically a clone. This explains it rather simplistically.
  12. Your voice.
  13. Hey, Philly is only 90 minutes from NYC! I'll be there! So will my wife and Zora.
  14. I think Nazr and McDyess for Jaric would be stupid. Nazr and Dale Davis, maybe. But there is talk about including McDyess. McDyess brings a lot energy, rebounding, and decent scoring off the bench. To lose him would be a blow, imo.
  15. You must have one helluva allowance.
  16. Wow, getting rid of Nazr. Honestly, I don't think he has been given enough playing time to see what he can do. That's partly his fault (getting into foul trouble early) and partly Saunders fault (not running many plays for him). The Pistons are basically a jump-shooting team now, which is incredibly frustrating to watch when you have someone like Sheed, who nobody can touch down low.
  17. That about sums it up. You have to digitize the footage (there is really no easy way to grab video from a DVD other than hooking the analog outputs of the DVD player to an analog/digital converter hooked up to the computer) and then compress the video into a lower quality format like Divx, Quicktime, mpeg4, etc.
  18. Picked this up on recommendation from Sangry. I like it quite a bit... it will take awhile for it to sink in and to hear everything that's going on. Very dense, energetic music. After seeing the cover, I think I read about this record when it came out in one of the jazz rags.
  19. I have no idea. Probably best to call the manufacturer and ask. I would think there might be slight tuning & tone problems.
  20. Damn. I was waiting for it to be confirmed before commenting. He died much too young. Damn. RIP.
  21. He put his email in the post. Email him.
  22. The house feed was only sax and turntables...the BBC made a nice recording but it wasn't available to connect with the Sony HD camera That's a drag. Oh well... Money...surely you jest....if we release this the band may clear 1K......plus the BBC made a multi-track recording.....so we can do this concert justice....for the music and not the bread....not in jazz anymore... Amen.
  23. That Zawinul side must've come in... I finally got it, just today. Bought it and paid instantly via Paypal on December 31st. The guy charged me $6.99 for shipping and then sent it the absolute cheapest, slowest way possible. Gotta love eBay. It was still cheaper than buying it new, and it is sealed, so hey...
  24. My beloved Adcom GFP-750 had stereo/mono/reverse switching on it. I miss her.
