  1. Oh my God, I just drooled all over my keyboard!!! What a beaut!!!
  2. Well, I'm a proud proponent of the Don Patterson three-finger technique on my right hand (due, in my case, to being self-taught and not learnig the traditional fingering on piano), so I supposed I could lose my ring finger or my pinky. But I'd rather not lose either of them!
  3. I am an amateur woodworker at best, but I've always loved working with wood. I recently bought a book on how to make Arts & Crafts style furniture. I'm also planning on making new kitchen cabinets, since our kitchen is so old and weirdly shaped. I appreciate the concern. I am very careful with power-tools, especially saws. Every time I begin to use them, I think about nipping one of my fingers off and it scares me into stopping, thinking, and not doing anything stupid. All I can say is, it's a good thing I ain't a drunk!!!!! Speaking of cutting stuff off, has anyone seen those new saws they are introducing this year? The blade is charged with electricity and any change in the current trips a mechanism that snapes the blade down through the table. It's amazing. They demostrated it on this show I was watching by placing a hotdog on a board. They started cutting the board and as soon as the blade grazed the hotdog, it shot down under the table, leaving the hotdog with just a little scratch on it. Really amazing.
  4. Maybe they tried to pull a Bill Knapp's.
  5. No, but it can make everyone's posts more intelligent. It's called the Un-Aric Filter.
  6. I bought the new software with money donated in February. It was $69.99 for a one year license. After one year, we do not need to re-license it, we just lose tech support. I figure after a year, all the bugs should be ironed out anyhow. I'm excited to get version 2.0 up and running. It has some really great moderation features for me, the coveted "ignore" feature for you guys, plus some other cool stuff.
  7. Sorry for the mix up tonight, folks. I tried to update our forums from Invision Power Board version 1.3 to version 2.0.3 by myself, but soon found out, after wiping a bunch of the files and uploading the new installer, that I could not continue with the installation until Bytehosting, who hosts this site, turns on xml commands in php. I bought a registered copy of version 2.0, which adds some nifty new features. I will contact Bytehosting tomorrow about the xml problem and I will try to upgrade the board again tomorrow night at 12:00am Eastern Standard Time, unless otherwise noted here. Again, I apologize for shutting the board down on short notice. I didn't think it would take me long to update the software. Thanks for your understanding!
  8. Zora is now taking steps on her own... she took six steps over to me yesterday, from the piano all the way into my arms. I'll get some pics soon! How was the birthday party, Jim? The little guy looks very happy! What a sweetie!
  9. Dan, Naked City came here just to talk politics. He didn't post anywhere else and ever since I gave him a stern warning and closed down the sickeninly anti-semtic thread started by his buddy che (who is on a short leash), he hasn't posted at all. This is the kind of thing I'm trying to avoid. It's just a simple feature that will relieve me of a little stress, that's all.
  10. Out with the old, in with the new.... I just changed my screen name. I originally continued using "b3-er" because that was my name back on the ol' BNBB and nobody really knew my real name. I think y'all know who I am by now!
  11. Hey Roz, welcome to the board and thank you for sharing your memories.
  12. Joshua Redman's recent discs with Sam Yahel and Brian Blade are fantastic, imo. Yaya3 and Elastic get plenty of spins from me (the former more than the latter, however). Yahel is a truly underrated talent and one of my favorite of the new crop of organists and Brian Blade is... well... frickin' amazing, as always.
  13. All right, who voted "Antarctica"?! Is someone really there or are you pulling my leg?
  14. Classic!!
  15. I'm just curious where people are. If you'd like to name your country, please do so. I've noticed an influx of more European members lately, which is a good thing!
  16. I had to vote for pie, although my made-from-scratch chocolate cake is to die for... I learnt the recipe from me mum. But she was a wicked pie-maker, too!
  17. I've been wondering why you haven't been playing it recently. I remember you saying something about the neck. Talk to my pops... he is the cigar master and can hook you up with a good humidifier system that will keep the guitar where it needs to be. You better bring that bad-boy.... ahem... bad-girl to the sessions!!! I love the sound of it.
  18. What I need to learn are some true gospel drawbar settings. Man, I was listening to some Al Green, and whoever his organist was back in the day, he/she had the hippest settings. They get this "swooping" sound that is so cool... I've been trying to figure out the setting, but to no avail. Any recs?
  19. We're up over the $200 mark now, thanks to some generous members, including Soul Stream! That's very good for the first week! Let's keep this pace up! It would be awesome to send Mr. Kloss a big fat check for $1000 at the end of the month!
  20. The software has no easy way of doing this. I'm sure someone who knows php and this software could program it, but it's beyond my expertise. I have re-instated the political forum, viewable by members only.
  21. I think we just need to be nicer to each other. I felt really stupid after that exchange with you, Allen, because I didn't handle it in the best way. As much as I tell myself, and try to remind everyone here, that this is just a forum, just some site on the internet which, if it went down tomorrow, would have no great impact on anyone's life... it's just not true. We get emotionally attached to these boards, for some reason, and when they change or people are mean-spirited, it's easy to get wrapped up in it. I did not see what Chaney was initially talking about when he posted this, but I have seen it now. We just need to be nicer to each other and let things slide more instead of getting all riled up over nothing.
  22. How about this? Politics Forum is not visible unless you're a member. ?
  23. If ya wanna learn your church stops, sure! And by church, we're not talking gospel!
  24. The first week of March, we've got $185.11 (remember that Paypal takes a chunk, so that's where the 11 cents comes from). Let's keep on giving, folks! B-)
  25. For my own piece of mind, I've disabled the Politics Forum. It may return, it may not. For now, I'm planning on scrapping it for the month, just to see how things go. Frankly, I can't keep up with it and there have been some very nasty discussions in there that have been spilling out into other areas of the board and I'm tired of it. If enough of you complain, I'll re-instate it early. Otherwise, for the month of March, and in observation of our 2 year forum birthday, I'm disabling it so that we might be able to get along with each other a little better. Thoughts?
