  1. All joking aside, that's pretty amazing. I assumed, before I read the story, that it would be about stem-cells. Whodda thunk that anti-freeze would do the trick? Truth is stranger than fiction, I tells ya.
  2. CJ! You got your avatar working! BRAVO!!! That takes one thing off our list to rag on you behind your back about...
  3. My dad's birthday is today. He's a member (Theo), but his birthday isn't popping up on the calender. Oh well... you can't hide, pops! My dad is responsable for my love of music and my growth as a musician. A professional musician himself for many years, he always encouraged me not by forcing me to practice, but by letting me take things at my own pace and in my own direction. He also broke the bank to buy instruments for me! He had a B3 when I was very little and one of my earliest memories is sitting at the console and pulling the drawbars. So it's his fault I haul this mammoth thing around to gigs! My first organ trio featured my dad on guitar when I was 19. It was a lot of fun! The experience taught me how to pick tunes and lead a band. It also taught me that jazz doesn't pay! We played the local coffee houses for no money! I guess I didn't learn to well. Happy 64th birthday, dad. I love you very much and I'm proud to call you my dad.
  4. He's bad. His name brought to mind Stanton Moore, the drummer from Galactic, another funky mother! His solo record is sick. Charlie Hunter always seems to find funky-ass drummers, too.
  5. I was going by their CDs. I didn't catch the guys name. You could be right. Whoever he was, he was funky as hell!
  6. Joe, Randy and I talked about all y'all behind your backs all the time. "You read what Jim Dye just posted in the Hardbop thread?" "Yeah, what a sucker."
  7. Bringing this up. We opened last night for Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Their drummer, Zak Najor, is a pocket-meister! He just locked into the groove and was like a damn metronome! Funky as hell! Give it up for the funky drummers!
  8. Our record was recorded with everyone in the same room, but with the Leslie and guitar amp separated from the drums and each other. That way we had the benefit of isolation, but we were still together. For our next record, we'll be in the same room. I really like the sound I'm getting.
  9. Hardbop's reviews aren't so much "reviews" as they are 'who played what songs where.' Outside of a few of his tried and true "most swingin'"s and such, I don't think he goes into much depth or criticism of the gigs. I do enjoy knowing the song details and personel of a George Coleman gig at Smoke. Don't find that anywhere else. on the web to my knowledge. I don't see much point throwing the baby out with the bathwater on this one. Well, as already stated on this thread, he won't post here because it's run by an organ trio (and we all know electric organs were invented by Satan). Talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater....
  10. Let me try... © Oh yeah!!
  11. He has the right to prefer accoustic music; I can respect that while being in strong disagreement, but it's the way he's insulting and disrespectful toward musicians who don't adhere to his view of what they should play, and smug and arrogant about the truth of his opinions, that makes me dislike him. I never said he didn't have the right to "prefer" acoustic music. I think his entire attitude is jive.
  12. I wish. Too expensive. I'd love to release something on vinyl, though. Of course, in order to make it worthwhile, the project would have to be recorded to analog tape first instead of a computer harddrive. Speaking of.... I'm sending you a PM, Chuck.
  13. He's a moron. I'm glad he doesn't post here. Who needs his bullshit?
  14. I should also re-state (since I think I said it before in this thread) that my research has revealed that a cerebellar tonsils herniation could also be a symptom in and of itself and not a cause. It's confusing!!!!!!!!
  15. DrJ, I think one reason no one has diagnosed it here is that it falls in the "gray zone" between normal and abnormal. The real bummer is that my wife had an MRI years ago but not of her head. If she had, we would be able to compare the two to see if this herniation has been there the whole time or if it's appeared due to trama (her falling down the stairs 3 weeks before this all began, for example, which no one seems to think is important). On this site (Chiar Information they discuss people suffering from Chiari symptoms with no herniation at all and other people having herniations exceeding 12mm that have no problems. It seems to me that pysiology may have something to do with it as well. For instane, if I, being a 6'3" man with a big head (can't recall my hat size, but I have problems finding hats that fit) had a 5mm herniation, it probably wouldn't affect me as much as my wife, who is only 5'1". She's tiny! The other issue is that no one here in Lansing specializes in CMI. The herniation is obvious. You can see it plain as day on the MRI's. The question is whether it's normal or abnormal and they have two neurologists in Ann Arbor that specialize in CMI. Of course, CMI might have nothing to do with it and it could be MS afterall. Who knows? We're just trying to seek answers. Our primary care doctor set us up to see a neurosurgeon as well and then reassured us that it would only be a consultation and that even if the neurosurgeon suggested surgery, we do not have to go that route. We're just looking for another opinion since so far no one has any idea what's wrong. Dave, I will mention your post to Alison. I thought it strange that the HMO was demanding a diagnosis. The simple fact is that she cannot drive a car, she cannot walk for more than a few minutes, she cannot concentrate well... she cannot perform the duties required of her for her job right now.
  16. Ok. Update time. We've been to various doctors all week. The ENT found nothing. All tests were normal. The dizzyness is not being caused by any malfuction of the inner ear. Her throat looks fine, albeit with a little bit of soreness caused by acid reflux (no doubt a symptom of the stress of this entire situation). Other than that, everything is normal. We had a cervical spine MRI the other week and the chart that came with that reads exactly like the one that came with our original head MRI from her stay at the hospital at the beginning of November. Ergo: The stand-out phrase to me that is different from the last report is "clinical correlation is needed." In other words, we need a second opinion, preferrably from someone who specializes in CMI (Chiari Malformation Type I). The thing we keep hearing is "Well, it looks like MS, although all the tests to find MS have come back negative." In other words, they are looking at MS only because of the symptoms. The following is from a website about Chiari Malformations: Look at those symptoms. DING DING DING! So I called the Michigan Brain And Spine Institute in Ann Arbor and they said we need a referral to get in. No big deal. Our primary care physician will help us out there. We saw him yesterday and he's very concerned and agreed that we need to seek another opinion (or two or three). They also said they have two doctors there that specialize in CMI. So I think that's the next step.
  17. I'm on it! Thanks for the heads up!
  18. Andrew is living and teaching in San Francisco now. I believe he's married and they just had a baby!
  19. He hasn't done shit in the Middle East for the last 2000 years, so I'm with Leeway.
  20. The kid is going to rip his shoulder out of it's socket by trying to tackle the Big J. Then Jesus will heal him and all is well again. Amen.
  21. Lazaro, if you think they are broadcast quality enough, you can use some of the holiday tunes. See this thread if you haven't already: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=15098
  22. OMG, those are real?! By real I mean that they aren't a joke? Wow.
  23. Yes, I did. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=13735
  24. I'll second that he's a trip although I don't know if it's a goodun' or not. Granted, the only record I have by him is a recent Savant (I think) release that I was not impressed by... but who am I?
