  1. Well I had my grandpa accompany me to Sam's Club and lo and behold they did have them. The price was $15.97, so you were both wrong!! Little Zora has already tested them out by falling a few times and she hasn't cried! Her problem is that she's already standing but she doesn't really know how to sit so once she stands up, she doesn't know how to get back down. So then she just kind of falls.
  2. It means if you're coming in through the spdif digital input, you can choose to ignore the SCMS copy protection scheme that some playback devices use. The convertors are Burr/Brown, I believe. I think that's what I saw on there. I'll have to check again.
  3. That's what the refresh button is for.
  4. We played all originals with the exception of a couple Ray Charles tunes, including several tunes that will be on our next record.
  5. Jimmy looks like he's playing piano in that shot that ss1 posted. That doesn't look like a Hammond to me.
  6. I use a custom made DI for the Hammond organ to do exactly what you describe, Jim; just add "support" to the low end. Phase problems are always a concern, especially with a rotating speaker!!
  7. I've had two of those Audiophile 2496 cards. They are very nice and sound very good. They make a firewire version if you don't want to open up your computer. I think it's called the Firewire Audiophile (a stretch, I know). I'm about to get one of those for my laptop. Check out M-Audio's website. They have a lot of interface options including USB solutions as well.
  8. Yes, what?
  9. Wasn't me was it? I get enough bad press here. B-) BUT you do look kinda square. No, it wasn't you, Chuck (breathe easy!) It was a drunk guy at the Green Door Lounge here in Lansing. What can I do to cure my square appearance? Shall I grow the obligatory soul patch or goatee? Or should I go this route:
  10. Rocket scientist = nice way of saying, "You play nice, but you look like a fuckin' dork!" I've had that said to me before.
  11. Joey is always better when it's not his date, in other words when he's a sideman. He plays his nuts off on that John McLaughlin date, for instance. Of course the common denominator between that record and the tape Bill heard is Elvin Jones. Maybe that was the catalyst.
  12. Our concert last Friday night at the Creole Gallery was reviewed in this week's City Pulse. http://www.lansingcitypulse.com/041110/music/index3.asp It's organ nuttiness!
  13. Hm... sounds a little like Joey DeFrancesco's tribute to Don Patterson, "The Philadelphia Connection". There's nothing wrong with it and it swings like crazy... but after listening to him cover Patterson tunes, I just wanted to hear Patterson, not Joey D.
  14. I need to do this. There is no Jimmy Smith discography on the net, no Groove Holmes, no McGriff, etc. The organ players have been ignored. I should make a jazz organ discography site. Whaddya think?
  15. This coming from a man who played with Tony Williams?!
  16. ZZING!
  17. Please don't. I like having html in the sigs.
  18. What's the difference between sampling in music and collage in the visual arts? To say the Beastie Boys have not created anything original is ignorant. The originality comes in how you put the samples together, what samples you use, in what order, in what duration, in what rhythm. Now substitute the word "notes" for samples in that last sentence. It's the same thing. And just like with notes it can be done well or done poorly.
  19. Up, 'cos this shit is bad! Noj, expect some stuff in the next couple of weeks.
  20. Didn't his mom or dad die just last year? I think it was his mom.
  21. Junior ain't as good as his dad.
  22. I want to go to rachel's office parties... "Hey, did someone spike the cranberry sauce?!"
  23. I looked at Meijer after going to Toys R Us. No dice. Depending on the price at Target, Sam's Club might be the joint.
  24. Can you imagine if these musical sampling copyright laws were used in the visual arts? Specifically painting, collage, sculptor, etc? "Hey, you can't use that shade of red! I used that!"
