  1. More importantly, how did Jefferson Airplane turn into a complete monstrousity during the 80s? Or is that question redundant?
  2. Sorry, Berigan, I over-reacted. As to what I would do if I found someone peeping on my 5 year old daughter? Well, for one thing I wouldn't shove a stick in his ass. I would probably knock him out with a baseball bat, though.
  3. Now that a discussion has started I guess I won't close this. Berigan, next time how about initiating a dialogue instead of the "post and run" technique? Speaking of peeking toms, I dated a girl in college. We were going out during summer, so we were both back at home. She lived about 30 miles away from me and I used to go visit her and her parents often. They lived in a small town with old houses fairly close together. She told me about her next door neighbor who used to watch her from his attic window (her bedroom window was straight across) and whack-off. I was flabergasted and asked, "Why doesn't your father do anything about it?" She just said, "What could he do?" I tell you what my dad would've done... He would not have sodomized someone with a branch like the assholes above, but I guarantee he would've confronted the guy and scarred the living shit out of him.
  4. Berigan, what the fuck is the point of this?
  5. Well Mr. Nessa came out tonight and hung out with Arno and the trio! We had a blast! We played outside on the Gull Landing deck during a torrential downpour and lived to tell about it! I recorded all the gigs, although most are unusable due to technical problems that arose (I learned a lot on this tour about mobile recording: Namely, clean power is not a given at any location and that microphone splitters are my new best friend) but we did get all of tonight's show (all three hours of it) which should have some fine moments. If all goes well, we'll be releasing a CD of Organissimo featuring Arno Marsh! Yippee! Lazaro, it was good to see you in Grand Haven.
  6. Ken moved us to a different server. We do not have our own yet. I haven't had time to build one... been gigging a lot. We'll get there soon.
  7. Hi folks. Anyone planning on coming to the Ludington gig on Sunday (August 15th), the gig has been canceled due to lack of funding. But we will be at Gull Landing in Pentwater that night! We've been having a blast on the tour... we hope to see some friends out! Arno is killin'!
  8. Happy birthday, Mike! Great to have you back on the board!
  9. When I was in an a cappella group in college, we did their arrangement of "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing!" during the holiday season. That was HARD! I don't think we ever did it right. The intervals are so tight and move all over the place. Very difficult to sing. That said, I don't have any of their albums. I actually prefer the sounds of groups like "The Fairfield Four" to Take 6, even though I have the utmost respect for what they do.
  10. Go for it! Or just post them here. Somebody may know more than me. Man with the Golden Arm, that's pretty funny! I think my ass is more white than yellow, though.
  11. Put my email on there so I can get it when it comes in stock. Very cool, thanks Jim.
  12. This is my first entry in our new "blog" detailing the events of the upcoming sophomore Organissimo record. Our first record, Waiting For The Boogaloo Sisters... has been out over a year now and has garnered us some very appreciate praise. I am personally a slight bit nervous as to whether we can match that record's impact but also excited at the possibility of surpassing it! Joe and I have been writing tunes off and on since before the first record was released. In fact, there are several tunes that we recorded for that album which didn't make the final cut for one reason or another. One such reason revolves around a plague of modern recording: A compact disc's capacity to hold 70+ minutes of music. Just because it can, doesn't mean it should. We wanted the record to be around 60 minutes or so and be able to choose the best songs. Leave the audience wanting more, right? Besides revamping the older stuff, we've been working on new stuff as time allows. Both Joe and I bought older homes last year and as many of you know my wife and I had a baby this past April. And Randy has been teaching drum lessons like a mad-man and is an in-demand drummer. Time is a lot more precious now! The plan with this next album is to work tunes out live and then record them as many times as possible in my basement studio. We'll keep working them and working them until we're satisfied with the results. I've been accumulating studio gear for years and we are technically at the point where we can just come into the rehearsal space, work a tune for a bit, and then turn on the computer and hit record. For the most part, we don't have to worry about the technical side of things. Everything is ready to go at a moment's notice (almost!) Unlike our first record, this one may have some standards sprinkled here and there. We've been performing a version of "Tenderly" at our live shows that has gotten some great response. We also may do a standard ballad. But there will be plenty more originals as well, including Joe's tribute to Grand Rapids, "Wealthy St.", a swingin' thing in 3/4 called "Smokin' Section", and a funky piece in 7/8 called "Play Nice", all of which we've been playing live for the past few months. All in all I'm very excited to start actually recording these tunes. It's been a busy busy summer for all of us, but come September we'll be locking ourselves in the basement for days at a time, rehearsing and recording. I will post pictures of the studio soon! ----Jim
  13. Because musicians just want to make music and don't read the fine print.
  14. She just looks very intense! She's a little cutie, though! Hardbop, what a beautiful little girl!
  15. So you caused the crash!!!!! AHA!!!! Banned. Seriously, I was talking with my server guy and he said the crashes are being caused by some tables in the database getting messed up. He said it's probably due to some code in this software not meshing completely with MySQL (which is the database protocol). Version 2.0 of the board software is out, but they have yet to release an upgrade path from 1.3 to 2.0 so I'm still waiting.
  16. BWA HA HA HA! Maybe he wrote the textbook!
  17. Hijack is a cool program, but you have to know what you're doing. I suggest downloading it, running it, and then posting the list of stuff it gives you. I can tell you what you want to delete if you're not sure. That's the only way I was able to get rid of a worm I had that kept changing my homepage.
  18. UP, because Randy gave me a copy and it's SWINGIN'!!! Order yours today or come to one of our shows on the Northern Michigan tour (click me!) and get a copy from the man himself!
  19. UP because we start the tour THIS THURSDAY! Mark your calenders!
  20. Next up is the office which will be in the basement and entails framing a room, doing all the electrical, hanging drywall and such and such. That should be relatively cheap. After that it'll probably be the kitchen!!!! The kitchen needs some serious work. I'm still workin' on my "plumber's crack". A couple more root beer floats per day oughta do it!
  21. Man, that's the new thang, bro. It's what's hip. Get with it.
  22. Thanks, wesbed. If you miss remodeling a lot, I've got plenty of work!
  23. Here's where I start to cut up the floor, exposing the actual joists below. Mr. Sawz-All is my best friend!!! New subfloor in and Alison and I start playing with placement. The sink and toilet are brand new and the tub we got used from an plumber who took it out of a 1906 farm house! We were now completely broke and the project came to a halt. This was last November. In January I ran the rough plumbing to the locations we had choosen as well as electrical. In February we had enough money to move forward again. I got Backerboard up on all the walls and also laid some on the floor and then laid the tiles with the help of my dad, his girlfriend, and my sister. Lookin' sharp! Hope those solder joints on the plumbing in the walls hold up! Me groutin' away! One of the most fun parts of the job, in my opinion! It's like playing with mud in the sandbox! After putting drywall on the top part of the walls, above the backerboard, and also on the ceiling, the project again stalled as we saved money to get wall tile. It wasn't until April, when Alison was getting due, that I started it up again. I put all the wall tile up two weeks before Zora was born. One week before she was born I started installing the fixtures and painting. And the finished product: The bathroom took 9 months to get done, just like Zora took 9 months to be born! I finished the day before they came home and we LOVE IT! Next up... The Kitchen. I can't wait.
