Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I did and did not see this coming. Like Joe mentioned, this happened last year with the Feds but they gave my money back and we set up a payment plan. I tried to set up a plan with the state last July, but then we moved in August and the postal service has really fucked up our mail. I won't go into that... we've been trying to get it fixed since we moved. So I admit, I probably should've been more pro-active with them because they claim they've sent me letters and called "four times" according to the lady but neither my wife or I have any recollection of calls or letters. And believe me, if they had called or sent something, my wife would let me know. She is not happy with me on this matter. As far as seperate accounts go, my wife has been hounding me to get rid of my personal account since we've been married. She already got rid of hers. We don't have issues with money between us. The shitty thing is they will take anything that has my name attached to it. My personal account a balance of -$40 in it right now so they took everything from our shared account, which is the account we pay our credit cards, insurance, mortgage, utilities, etc. from. The good news is that now I only owe them $850. The shitty thing is the woman said I have to pay that amount by March 31st or they'll levy my bank accounts again. Again, this is coming at the worst time... my wife is 8 months pregnant and her maternity leave pay is absolutely terrible... less than 40% of her normal pay. So we're trying to save money for the two months that she'll be out since her pay is now going to barely cover our mortgage. Anyway, enough complaining. The CD idea is still on the table, we've just been slammed. I want to start working on that soon, though. I think that's the best way to raise money for the site, future CDs, etc. I don't feel right accepting something for nothing from you guys.

Yes, she called me a liar. And yes this happened last year with the Feds, but they were cool on the phone. We set up a payment plan and they released my money, which was really good because unlike today, we didn't have a nice check lying un-deposited to cover what the Feds were trying to take. The lady on the phone today would not hear of setting up a payment. She said the only thing I could do is tell my bank to release the money to them because by law the bank can hold the money for 30 days in order for me to work something out with the state, but she said there was nothing to work out and they would take my money anyway, so I might as well just release it today so that our checking account would be re-activated. Nice, huh?

So I woke up today to a phone call from my bank. They received a notice of levy from the Michigan Department of Treasury for back taxes. Basically they took all my money from my personal account and from my joint account with my wife. How does this help anyone? We had just written a check to our car insurance company for $650, our mortgage of $750 is due in a few days, not to mention credit card bills, etc. How does taking all my money solve anything? Now granted, I've been trying to work out a monthly payment plan with them, but they are real assholes. I also owe the IRS and they are so much nicer than the state government. They realize that taking all my money means that I can't live. Whereas the state doesn't care. Considering that I make less than $20k a year, and that right now I'm living gig to gig (and the gigs have gone way down), and we're expecting our first child and trying to make our home suitable for said child, this really hit hard. Thankfully I had a decent sized check from the company I do freelance video editing for that I had not deposited yet, so we're able to cover our bills for this month. I'm all for paying taxes. But why do they have to be such dicks about it? They didn't have our new address (one of the reasons I hadn't received any correspondence from them) and when I told the woman we moved she asked if we were renting or bought the house. I said we bought it. "Well then, you're just lying to us. You say you have no money and then you bought a house." Uh, no my wife bought the house. Her name is on the deed. Fuck you very much. Assholes... That's my rant.

So therefor people shouldn't be expected to act like adults and other professional athletes and keep their emotions in check? Because they're skating around really fast and carrying a big stick? Seems like that's the biggest reason why they shouldn't be allowed to fight at all. Too easy to get caught up in the moment and do something stupid.

I never said they act like spoiled brats, I said they act like children. Children do not know how to control their emotions. All athletes get emotional in every sport and I don't think it's acceptable for professional athletes to throw punches at each other (unless the sport is a martial art or boxing, obviously).

It's easy to dump on the sport because they allow the players to act like children with no self control and no fear of punishment. Can you imagine if the refs allowed basketball players to throw punches at each other and beat the shit out of each other until one hit the floor and all you had to do was sit on the bench for two minutes and then you were back in the game? It's bullshit. Yes hockey is an emotional game. So is every other sport. The NHL needs to ban fighting completely. Throw a punch, you're fined and suspended, just like in the NBA.

#1 was a fellow named "admin" that my server guy used to set up the software with. I took him over for awhile and then just created my own account (b3-er) not realizing that I could've just changed my name from admin to b3-er. Live and learn.

Check out Adam Scone's record. Very nice stuff... reminds me of a lost Lou Donaldson record from the early 60s... it has that kind of vibe. The alto saxophonist on his record is fantastic. Great compositions too.
