  1. Thanksgiving should be interesting this year. We're eating with my wife's family (first Thanksgiving for me not eating with my family). Tonight we had a little pre-Thanksgiving get together and her brother-in-law (staunch conservative), father-in-law (liberal) and uncle (staunch liberal) got into it pretty good re: Bush and Iraq. I thought some fists were going to be thrown for a minute!!!
  2. The Nuge wouldn't poach. Especially on Joe's property. He's too easily recognized, what with the chorus of "Cat Scratch Fever" blaring out of his van. Besides, Joe would just challenge him to a Riff-a-thon and blow him away with his death metal licks and high-voltage, Iron Maiden screams!!! YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
  3. Now you're talking!
  4. DAMN DOG!
  5. And as I've posted before, the all-important IGNORE feature will be fully implemented in the next version of this software which is supposed to be released come the New Year. So if you can put up with those you don't like for about a month and a half, you can then ignore to your heart's content. If only it worked in the real world with in-laws!
  6. Well I've been in the internet jazz board scene since 1995 and the old JCS (Jazz Central Station). Who remembers that place? I joined the BNBB in 1997. So it's been 8 years of this stuff. I first "met" Deep at JCS and then over at the BNBB and now here. My point? None really, except that I've seen what's going on here, albeit from a different perspective (that of the main administrator) and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
  7. Hang in there is right. As of January a new version of this board software will be available with the oh-so-coveted IGNORE feature fully implemented. That way, if you don't like someone, you can just ignore them and not see any of their posts. If only real life was so easy!
  8. Stealin' records from fellow musicians... why didn't I think of that. Hey Joe, can I come over?
  9. If I were you I'd write a letter to John Sneider at the State Journal and let him publicly and verbally flog whoever did this. I'm sure he'd have a field day.
  10. Jazzypaul, I would think the easiest way is to choose the picture of your choice, right click on it (you're using a PC, right?) and "save as". Save it somewhere you'll remember (like on your desktop). Then go into "My Controls" at the upper right of any Organissimo Forum page, choose "Edit Avatar Settings" and then use the "browse" button to find the picture you just saved. Hit UPLOAD and you're all set.
  11. That's three... any more?
  12. You all know I got nothing but love for ya!
  13. I've been thinking about the Political Forum and how some members do not like to see so many Political threads taking up space when they click "Today's Active Topics". There is a relatively easy solution to this that I could do if enough people would like. I can set up a separate member class that cannot read or post in or even see the Politcal Forum. This would be akin to a mass ignore function for the political forum only not controlled by you. In order to be a "non-political member", you'd have to ask me to change your status to that. If you ever wanted to change back, you'd have to ask me as well. It's not a big deal to me as long as you weren't changing your mind everyday! What do y'all think?
  14. Some have contacted me concerning the time being off on the boards. If you go to "My Controls" and then "Board Settings", you can choose your time zone and whether or not to observe daylight savings time. I think the server that this website resides on is automatically adjusting for daylight savings time which in turn affects the board. So if the board's clock seems an hour ahead to you, UNCHECK the daylight savings time box. That should fix the problem. Thanks!
  15. Duly noted, PD. Thank you for setting the record straight. I don't have time to read AAJ so I didn't know the circumstances surrounding the banishments. That said, everyone has a clean slate when they come here. If everybody just calms down and acts like reasonable adults, we can make this work, all right? I'm not implying anyone has been acting like a kid, but let's just let bygones be bygones and chill. Cool?
  16. Well, the main site is for our organ trio, Organissimo. The forums came about because Blue Note records shut down it's forums with no warning and left a bunch of these misfits homeless, so I created a forum for them to hang out at. Hope you find it cozy here as well.
  17. I Have Too Much Time On My Hands....
  18. Don't worry about them, mdnichol... they just like to razz newbs. Thanks for the site. Please stick around this one and join in the conversations.
  19. Would everybody calm the fuck down please? Jesus, I had people sending me emails about banning Wingy before he even posted one word. I've thought a lot about this whole banning thing since we banned GregM and you know what? This is a little internet chat room. I have a new house, a new baby on the way, my band is starting to take off, I have shitloads of home repair to do... I mean, I care about this place and all of you BUT THERE IS MORE TO LIFE!!!!!! Just chill the fuck out, go think about how this impacts you and your REAL LIFE and then get back to me. Everybody needs to read the rules again. Here ya go: So far no one in this ruckus has done anything to warrant banishment. This thread is beginning to turn into a flame war, however, and I may shut it down. I would rather everybody take a chill pill and RELAX! Ok?
  20. Looks like a lot of people are asking for an ignore function in ver. 2.0 so it'll most likely be in there. We'll have to wait until the new year to find out!
  21. Ah, unfortunately such a feature is not included in ver 1.3 (the newest version). However, a major overhaul is coming out, supposedly in January, with version 2.0 and they are asking for input on what we'd like to see. I will make the request for an ignore function.
  22. Although I just found out a new version of this software has been released. Perhaps the allmighty ignore function is included? I'll find out...
  23. Just so I don't get inundated with "Report This Post" emails, I am aware of this thread, thank you!
  24. "She sounds just like Janis but with one difference.... SHE'S HOT!!!" I haven't heard her but I personally would not base my vocal inspirations on Janis Joplin. Yeesh.
