  1. I heartily agree and have been enjoying this one also - by the way the Coleman Hawkins cd/dvd is also a gem!
  2. Yes! Thanks for this link!
  3. I think the sellers are increasing (people are passing away and others are getting rid of their LP collections) and the buyers (the older buyers are passing away and younger folks are mainly buying CDs) are decreasing. I got a mint copy on ebay almost two years ago for 225 with shipping, 180 is a very good price in my opinion. I really think it comes down to supply and demand, like most things on ebay. Anyway, nice score on a terrific set! B-)
  4. That is indeed a very attractive starting bid on this fabulous set. I rate this as one of the top box sets ever ; no way would I part with my copy! It ranks right up there with the Mosaic Commodores - worth buying for the Hawk and Benny Carter sessions alone, IMHO.
  5. Time to chime in with some recent finds: "Daddy Plays The Horn" Dexter Gordon - the original on Bethlehem deep groove laurel-leaves label (cover is vg++, record is at least vg++)! Paid a hundred bucks for this, but I consider that a very good deal! "Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries" Howard McGhee - original Bethlehem pressing like the above, but this one is stone mint-, cover & vinyl. Paid $25, a steal. "House Warmin'" another by Howard McGhee (and the mysterious Blazers-anyone know who they were?)-an absolutely nm-condition blue label Argo first pressing for $20!
  6. Hi Paul - Just sent you an email with order... B-)
  7. I waited almost 45 minutes to vote this morning, never more than 10 minutes in the last 3 presidential elections at my precinct (in Phoenix, AZ). I am told there has been a similar wait there all day. The turnout appears to be even greater than expected!
  8. Same here, Thanks for the heads up! B-)
  9. I have to wholeheartedly agree, the Sundazed lp reissue of Albert King's "Born Under A Bad Sign" made me a believer! The Dylans are top notch also, IMHO.
  10. Same here! Thanks for the heads up, I'll be getting a copy too.
  11. Well, it does seem to take more of an effort to play the lp sets (my preference too) so I find I'm playing them less often than the cd sets I have. No question, the cd is more convenient - but when I'm willing/able to take the time to listen to the lps it's sure as hell worth it!
  12. Same here, and it sounds great!
  13. This will definitely be a preorder for me - and a nice companion to the Buck Clayton Jams Mosaic! B-)
  14. THE MERCILESS BASTARDS! (bring it on!)
  15. It would seem they could use a proof reader, and maybe some more "ears" at Mosaic. On a more positive note, this is a wonderful set-sound quality and content! This is, for me, one of the Mosaics where EVERY disc is gonna get lots of play.
  16. Set # 3561 arrived yesterday-I agree the Holman tracks are great and actually find the few Rosolino vocals kind of fun. Another worthy set of West Coast Jazz from Mosaic, IMHO! B-)
  17. It's the new Jazztet set - almost through the Art Farmer quartets on disc 5, great music & next up will be the Jazztet on disc 2... B-)
  18. So I guess we've got another "collector's item" on our hands, though anyone that would pass the damaged disk off to somebody else is lower than a rattlesnake's belly. Too bad, I actually planned on starting with Take a Number, even if the concept is a bit gimmicky. But there is plenty else to delve into while waiting for the replacement disk. Yep, disc 7 is definitely a bummer! Since it's Mosaic, I'm not even gonna worry about it-they'll fix it.
  19. Set #50 arrived and first impressions are: sound is great, booklet is REALLY a good one with many pix & lots of input by Golson-it's a 20-pager this time! I can already tell this set is gonna be way up on my list.
  20. HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS, HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS....
  21. I wish you luck also, but have to agree with Wolff on this one. Does anyone know how many lp sets were issued of later Mosaics like Blue Mitchell or Mobley? I have the Mitchell on lp and have rarely seen another for sale (there is one currently on Ebay-it will be interesting to see what it goes for). There can't be nearly as many of these lp sets out there as cds, I got the Horace Parlan on lp a couple of years ago when it was last chance yet cd is still in print. With some of the earlier sets, like Shorty Rogers, it would seem fewer cds were issued.
  22. The two I've heard (True Blue & The Congregation) sounded just fine, IMHO. The stereo True Blue is closer to mono, much less separation. Nothing I heard made me think "digital" in regards to the sound quality. Nice heavy vinyl pressings, and they have done a terrific job with the covers on these too. On the other hand, I have yet to hear a Blue Note reissue from anyone that beats the earlier Japanese King lps.
  23. Sent you an email re: Bud Freeman & Wild Bill discs.
  24. The Cooper/Holman/Rosolino set is now Running Low! This one has been on my list for some time - have to add it to my Jazztet pre-order (damn, there goes another $64)... B-)
