I was a big fan in the early/mid 1980s--saw General Public on the ALL THE RAGE tour, and I've never seen more dancing at a concert in my life. I guess Dan Wakeling and Ranking Roger are touring with different versions of the Beat these days--here are a couple of videos of Wakeling's version (English Beat) from June of this year: You want to talk about music that inspired dancing...all I can say is that this band was IT for me in that regard circa 1982-85.

Hmmm. I am the expert on all things red around this forum, and to me this fellow looks like a fine candidate for a certain gubernatorial position in Alaska come 2010. Dude, most of the music's fans today are people for whom "underground" is a fearful a concept as "socialist" or something like that. Comrade, I believe the new meme has been upgraded (downgraded???) to "communist." Yes, "communist!!!"
