Lou has been a favorite singer of mine since the 60s. I wish him well.
I saw him around 5 or 6 years ago. The guitarist with him then was David T. Walker and the MD was H.B. Barnum.
That's the one. Yuck!

THAT'S THE ONE !
I just finished rereading it from that edition. I enjoyed it as much or more as I ever have in the past.
Yeah...agreed.
In general the show has deteriorated - but it's still among my favorite shows...Plus there are a lot of exteriors filmed near whem I work and live, so I often recognize locations.
Agreed.
In addition to the above, Ben sounds great on the Verve Billie Holiday recordings he participated in. He's one of the reasons why I enjoy those recordings of Billie's so much. Every time he solos it's a gem.
According to a table at this site, $5.00 in 1965 is worth around $30.00 in todays loot.
I guess those gigs I was doing back then didn't pay so badly after all.

Here's Another Mike Shayne. I dug the one "Man With The Golden Arm" posted earlier.
I had this when I was a kid - it may have been among the first Private Eye Mysteries I ever read. I think I was prompted by a series of early 40s Mike Shayne movies that were being played on TV. Anybody remember those ? Lloyd Nolan was terrific as Mike.
