    Wardell. Yes.
  2. Great record. Someone should pick this up!
  3. Peace, friends.
  4. Gain weight Squander more money Hey, I set my goals in the 'achievable' range.
  5. Have a great one. Draft, if necessary.
  6. Let me be the first to say... Oh well, I'll have to settle for twenty-fifth. Happy Birthday!
  7. I asked for World peace. And look what I got.
  8. Peace and happiness to all. BeBop (Manila)
  9. Obviously, I was being a bit flip (I'll bet Flip has a nice version too...) It's just a great song with many great versions. Wardell played it about a million times - half a million with Benny Goodman. And I'm just a Gray hound at heart. Another nice one (IMHO) 'Deed I Do. Wardell didn't play that.
  10. Wardell Gray, Hollywood/Pasadena, April 1947. Actually two versions. I prefer the live. That's it. Question settled. You're welcome.
  11. I'm not convinced. I too am a jazz-aholic. Yet I buy no recorded music (anymore). I play and I listen to live music...and of course those recordings I obtained many years ago. In my opinion, y'all are CD-aholics or LP-aholics or... Jazz has many other manifestations; recordings are not - strictly speaking - a necessity. Nothing wrong with being a CD- or LP-aholic. And I know my opinion is the outlier. But I figured I'd share. Thanks for indulging me.
  12. http://www.bordersstores.com/features/feat...=coupon_survey1 15% thru 6 December
  13. As promised, I pulled this out last night. Thankfully, only one mumblin' number ("Never"); the rest is enjoyable, if predictible, material. The band appears to be having fun.
  14. Ain't y'all 'down' with the Dn'B thang? (Drum n' Bass)
  15. I'm not much for the mumblin' schtick, so it doesn't do all that much for me. But Terry is always an interesting player. I'll pull this out tonight for a fresh listen. It's been quite a while.
  16. Wow, auto racing. Didn't know that was a sport So, what happened to Eddy Merckx?
  17. For the most part, I agree - the bankruptcy hasn't been good for inventory. Still, I see something interesting from time to time...more often in New York (or even a relatively small town, like Davis or Chico, where things don't get picked over so quickly) than in SF.

  19. Amen! Also recommended: anything with Eddie Jefferson.
  20. Anyone picked this up yet? Or should I say listened to it?
  21. See also... http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=14190 I did actually pick this up, but have not yet read.
  22. Ten thou. Wow. You don't look a post over 7,500.
  23. Is there any place with, say a jazz festival, an interesting local celebration, or a lot of nudity and beer drinking? (Just kidding about the nudity and beer drinking.) I know the SF jazz festival will be finished before the holidays. NYC, of course, always has lots of music, but the prices are a bit high. And I spend about 16 weeks a year working there anyway. I suppose most of the country is distracted with the holidays (religious and New Years) and not thinking about the things that really matter.
  24. I'll be in the US for about a week at year-end. I can really go anywhere. So, what's going in in your neighborhood? and how's the weather? (...not that weather is a big factor...) When there aren't any real constraints on location, I might as well optimize. Thanks for any input.
  25. Worse yet when they don't know your size and brand. Nothing worse than too-tight briefs...especially when one is accustomed to boxers.
