  1. Promotions can make a huge difference for sure. Shubas is on my list. Many thanks, g ← Greg, Try Martyrs as well. Mark
  2. I picked up a copy of Jim Marshall's new book entitled "Jazz". 143 pages of photographs and text with an intro by jazz writer Phillip Elwood. Nice book; Marshall is a mad man but a good photographer. Mark
  3. I'm not sure these folks would be happy about me stealing their designs! Nice job on the cat Erik!!!
  4. I would like to have a logo designed for a business card/letterhear/lables. I know there are many creatives on this board and I could use some help from the design experts! Please send me a pm if you can offer any assistance. Thanks, Mark
  5. You may try the Green Mill as well!
  6. Greg, I've not been to the Underground but Hot House is a great venue! I'll be in Chicago next week; I ask about it. Sal may know!!! Mark
  7. He's been born again...again. I think he's trying for the all time record. ← How many times can one person be reborn???
  8. That's the man. Didn't Jeffrey also, at one time, incorporate into his homerun trot, flying like a plane? ← It was the "one wing down" thing....kinda irratating!
  9. Image of Mr. Moody in Chicago last week.
  10. Photo of the lovely Ernestine Anderson in Chicago!
  11. Here is a recent image I made of Charles McPherson in Chicago.
  12. While in Cooperstown a few weeks ago for the Hall of Fame Ceremonies, I spotted the Straw man in a small diner. As he stood up to leave, I spoke to him for about 45 seconds. Seems like a nice guy; he was heading outside to an autograph session. Here was a guy with the world in the palm of his hands and it slipped away....a shame! Mark
  13. I know it's all in fun. Coverage of baseball in New England (where I live) of course revolves around the Yankees/Sox rivalry. Boston fans really love to hate them Yankees. Vendors sell "Yankees Suck" t-shirts outside Fenway Park. I wasn't aware of the national picture, at least as to how the press covers things. ← I was just in Boston a few weeks ago for a game....here is my favorite from the vendors outside Fenway!
  14. [gone, what team wants to face this lineup in October? For pete's sake, the lowest average is Manny's, and with the way he's hitting homers and driving in runs, who wants to face him? I would say all of these teams would be happy to face them in October: Houston Chicago New York (Mets) Washington Atlanta Philadelphia Florida Milwaukee Cincinatti Pittsburgh San Diego Arizona Los Angeles San Francisco St. Louis and Colorado m~
  15. Guilty! But we had a lot to whine about. Anybody remember the famous Sox/Mets series, and a certain Mr. Buckner? Until last year, many of us were angry at the Sox in ways outsiders probably couldn't understand. ← I remember all of the above; just having some fun with you! I find neither team to be evil but the two or three baseball threads we have would seem to indicate there are only two teams in the league (except that lone Indian fan out there ). m~ ps, just a little light hearted poking to stir the pot!
  16. Jeez, we waited 86 years for as championship, and people are already hating us? ← I think people hated you before you won the Championship!!!
  17. Armstrong has built an image of himself as a Mr. Clean! I'm not so sure Lance built that image of himself or if it came from his responses to his critics frequent attacks. I think the critics threw the first stone in this case. I have no idea if he really is doping but it does seem a little like a witch hunt to me (I'm not really a bike racing fan so I may not know what I'm talking about!!! ) Mark~
  18. actually, there's two tributes, four celebrations, two birthdays, one salute, and even one homage! ← ....3 days of free jazz.......wouldn't miss it!!! I know Sal will be there on Friday and Sunday (as well as the Saturday night afterfest at the Showcase). Hung out with Jim Neumann of Beehive Records yesterday and he'll be in attendance as well. m~
  19. [ Oh, and one other thing: I've watched plenty of "homer" announcers, but I have never heard a more worthless announce team than "Hawk" and the other guy. Truly nauseating. ←
  20. I read today that Lucky Thompson passed away in Seattle last Saturday at the age of 81. If this has been posted before, forgive me!!! If not, very sad; always dug his playing. Mark
  21. I'll probably be at the Sunday Moody show as well......PM me if you want! Mark
  22. ...but Paul can play the drums with his feet, can Randy????
  23. I saw the same billboard in DC last week.
