  1. Yeah, Woody had eyesight problems for years. I remember one afternoon (around '77) with Woody, Maxine and Cuscuna in the office they shared. We had been talking for about half an hour before Woody said "Hey, I'm sorry Nessa, I didn't recognize you." Then he jumped up and offered his hand. ← damn.....that's crazy!
  2. ....watch out for that corner window!!! For those of you who don't know the building, it's where JFK and others were apparently shot from; 6th floor, far right. Don't forget to buy your keychain and other merchadise before leaving! m~
  3. "But please remember to offer something up to "Pay It Forward." I never received the cds I claimed in this thread. I'll let that Forum member deal with the Karma that might be causing to come his way... " .....damn, I hope it wasn't me!!!
  4. I just saw Neil at the Chicago Jazz Fest a few weeks back! Congratulations guys! m~

    Greetings

Welcome aboard Billie, we've been looking for you!!! Join in the conversations often, it's a fun place to hang around......watch out for Chuck Nessa though, he's a pig!!!! Mark~
  6. Beware, Sheldon is a PIG! ← O.K. now I am going. ← Somehow I knew this would draw you out. ← Actually, Jim and I are very happily married men. Not too each other. Uh, not that there is anything wrong with that (generally speaking)... ahem, anyhow, I am just going as Joe's babe shield and chaperone. ← Geez! I wasn't talking "dirty" but if you want to move in that direction..... I was talking about "pigishness" - never thought this would turn someone towards sex. ← Who is talking sex. Married guys are very untidy...uh er.. the last bit was just nonsequitous for consistency's sake. ← Actually I'm unmarried and pretty neat......no, I'm not gay........not that there is anything necessarily wrong with it if one of you are!
  7. If I can find some cheap accomodations, I'll make it. I still need to make some nice photographs of you guys and it sounds like a blast!!! Maybe one of my Chicago friends could put me up for the night !!!
  8. Hey guys, I saw Ron Blake play at the Monterey Jazz Fest a few days ago and he told me to tell you guys "hi".......so hi!!! m~

  12. I've been buying Memorex for some time and have never had issues with them....good deal at $24.00 per 100. m~
  13. Hey, I could do that; let's start the pre orders! Here is something I did last week at Roy Haynes 80th Birthday Celebration.
  14. ....had a chance to peek at the Stewart calendar with Jazz Shrink at the Chicago Jazz Festival; very nice! m~
  15. I was doing a photo shoot with the APA (American Pianist Association) this past week and the president of the group said they are working to find temporary housing for many of the N.O. based musicians/families up here in Indianapolis and many locals have offered assistance. Hopefully this will work out! m~
  16. ...very sad news indeed! AMG does indeed suck....I also can get on their damn site!
  17. I've got to think there has to be a better way to market these guys/clubs although I'm not sure what it is....."buy one get one free", "frequent customer cards", "...as seen on tv" stickers on the windows.......I don't know what the answer is; it's sure not the poor quality of the performance keeping people away! Then again, I have been to hundreds of show and have always sat in the front row....not one time have I ever sat anywhere else......I guess I kinda like it afterall! m~
  18. Robert, Great story about your visit to the Showcase (and your other story regarding your trip to Chicago in general). It's funny about the Jazz Showcase; I'm to the point I can figure which showswill do well (Holland, Moody, Golson) but there are a lot of great, great musicians that don't seem to pack them in.....Barry Harris is once such musician. I'm sure the bass player and drummer you saw perform were Eddie DeHaas on bass and LeRoy Williams on drums. Eddie lives in Chicago and usually plays with Barry when he's in town.....he also played with Roy Haynes back in the day (check out a few of them on OJCs). Many times Barry uses Leon Joyce on drums, who I can't handle; arms flying everywhere, not playing anything! LeRoy would have been a few steps up. Hopefully the next time you make it to Chicago, I'll be able to get into town as well. Mark
  19. 'I Hear Music - Modern Music' (originally on Concert Hall) I second this one!!!
  20. ...actually the sale prices are not that good.
  21. ....with any luck, they would be!
  22. Donald Harrison also survived it and played the Chicago Jazz Fest on Sunday evening. m~
