  1. Nice win by the Cardinals today other than SDs late inning runs. Carpenter pitched 3 hit ball for 6 innings; Reggie Sanders with 6 rbi's. White Sox are pounding the Red Sox 5-0 after 1 1/2 innings!
  2. I really dig your pictures, btw. Really close to buying the Buddy Guy. g ←
  3. I have a few signed LP and cds but most of what I have signed are my photographs of them. Without fail, if I see a musician that I have photographed before, I always give them a matted print. This generally jumpstarts a conversation on when/where it was taken, who they were playing with, why they are wearing what they are wearing, their hair style and so forth. I saw Russell Malone, John Clayton and Monty Alexander do a tribute to Ray Brown shortly after Ray died. I have some nice images of Ray from one of his final shows and gave each one of them a print. Each one of them also signed one print for me. I've seen Russell Malone a few times since then and the first words out of his mouth is usually, "Hey, where's my picture"!!! Anyway, I have no qualms about asking for an autograph if the times right! m~

  11. The last bunch of cds I bought have left this nasty, sticky residue on my jewel cases when I peel off that anoying strip of tape at the top of the case.....do away with this, I say ! Any ideas how to get this off without screwing up the cases? Mark

  14. John actually performed three shows are Monterey. The first and the show this image is from was the "Uberjam" with Avi Bortnick on guitar and "gameboy", Mark Kelly on bass and Adan Deitch on drums. He also performed with Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart as well as the Ray Charles tribute with a different band and vocalist Mavis Staples. I made it to and photographed all three shows were very different and all excellent. Also ran into John at breakfast on Sunday morning and chatted with him for a few minutes. It was interesting as his wife is from Indy, as am I. Mark
  15. Sal, Get off your PC and get back to work!!!!
  16. As many of you know, I have a huge collection of original jazz photography; many pieces of it signed by musicians. I have thoughts of selling or auctioning some prints for the hurricane relief.....lf I were to do so, where would be the best place to donate the proceeds.....Red Cross, Jazz Emergency Relief Fund.....or????? If you were buying the print, what would sway you? Thanks for the help! Mark
  17. Can't pick one over the other and just gave the Coltrane/Monk its first spin this morning. I may lean towards the Gillespie/Bird based on the crazy way it came about; could have easily ended up in the garbage. Unbelieveable that we came to get both these recordings this year and I've got to wonder what is still out there. By far the two most important releases of the year (and probably next year! ). Mark
  18. If you have any places where you could place a flyer or two, PM me, and I can mail you some promotional stuff. Be nice to have a little grass roots thing growing there. g ← Greg, I'll be there this weekend, wish I had some flyers! Mark

  23. I drive by Fairmount every month or so while going to Ft. Wayne on business. Somwtimes I swing through town and by his family's farm and gravesite; still looks about the same. m! I was also in Monterey a week or so ago and stopped into Salinas as well. Dean was actually on him was to Salinas on the fateful day he crashed and died.
