My Spotlite pressing is not very good, unfortunately. Mid 70's petroleum shortage and all that. Still some companies had good pressings. Not all though. Some really cheaped out. I don't know how producers could live with putting such crap on the market. And I discovered that there was no point in taking them back to the store. The next one you got would be no better. Of course you could get your money back, but then you wouldn't have the music at all. The 70's were a real crap shoot for pressing quality. Now (a good pressing, actually):

Yes, my fellow Canadian Cory Weeds is a fine player and a very enthusiastic hard bopper. Plus his label Cellar Live has largely taken over from the now dormant Sharp Nine and Reservoir labels in recording many of today's top straight ahead and hard bop musicians. Definitely not the first; a later issue for sure. I would have bought this one mid 70's. Mine has a solid blue center section, not blue and white. Now:

I've never heard this one, but the tunes and line-up look interesting. Anyone have an opinion?

Yes, for sure, plus I agree with the recommendations of the Ryan Truesdell Gil Evans Project CD's. Excellent. And I'll probably get sanctioned for this one. But it's very, very good IMHO. Just forget who it's by and enjoy!
