Plus an Elvis and a Dylan and a Billie Holiday.
The Billie Holiday, which is otherwise a good looking selection of Columbia material, has a track called "C'est Un Peche de Dire Un Mentire". What on earth is that?
My entire CD collection, just over 2TB (recently had to upgrade to 3TB drives because I wanted it all on 1 drive)
99% Apple Lossless.
Haven't been prepared to even contemplate digitising my LPs.
But it isn't the same is it?
The old one had 95 tracks on 4 CDs, this new one has 75 tracks on 3CDs.
Still a great bargain though
Despite the really cheap price, this music has always been so important to me that I would always recommend the Mosaic.
Mr Wilder left the Hoffman board years ago and all his posts have been deleted, I believe at his own request.
Just noticed this fairly recent post from Mark Wilder
Kind Of Blue speed issue
I have bought the six I didn't already have on CD - Mr Natural, The Creeper, Landslide, In Memory Of, Midnight Sun and Chant
They sound excellent to me, I am very happy with them.
I don't have anything to compare them to though.
For anyone toying with the idea of buying this ...
I have the FiveFour release of Chappaqua now.
The sound is fine, the notes state that it was licensed from Sony.
Clocks in at 79.57, so a tight squeeze.
It's good to hear it again, I haven't played LPs for many years.
FiveFour are part of Cherry Red records.
Here are other albums they have released
FiveFour
Cherry Red also recently produced this Charles Lloyd reissue that didn't get talked about here as far as I know
Charles Lloyd
The Monk sleeve was first by a long way but I am not too sure they are all that similar anyway.
It has been pointed out before on this board that the Dylan sleeve was designed by Reid Miles.
As far as I know Ace never released Sun recordings. U.K. label Charly issued lots of Sun material, but had to withdraw their releases because they turned out not to be legit. Rhino in the United States and Bear Family in Germany released CDs and boxed sets with Sun material that were legit.
Looking at their website, Charly are still issuing Sun material. I have no idea whether they are legit or not.
On the other hand, Charly used to issue Chess material but had to stop because of legal issues.
Canon (and no doubt others) have scanners which come with an attachment that holds negative strips.
The one I have separates out the individual photographs on the strip and generates multiple image files, which greatly reduces the amount of effort involved.
I am not sure they all do that, some might produce one image that you then have to split off yourself into the individual pictures.
New JSP Box available soon. Looking forward to this.
I knew there were some sessions not currently available in the JSP sets (e.g. the Larry Adler session) but I had no idea there was this much

Instead of a Logitech Squeezebox, how about a Logitech Squeezebox Radio. It's also an alarm clock, acts like a normal bedside radio but music is acquired via the net, not AM/FM
Squeezebox Radio
Seems as if it was posted on the Blue Note site on May 26th.
Just goes to show how seldom members of this board feel a need to visit the Blue Note website nowadays.
RIP Ruth
It could be because of what we have been discussing, that the current CD issue of "Mingus Presents Mingus" is in very poor quality sound.
Try to get hold of the "Mingus" CD which contains "Stormy Weather" from the same session but in much better quality sound.
Sorry, I now see you have "Candid Dolphy" which also contains "Stormy Weather"
Has anyone actually bought or heard this set yet?
It still isn't clear to me whether or not this uses the superior mono tapes of the quartet session.
I was just listening to my playlist of the complete quartet session and 'Stormy Weather' is so superior in sound that I feel I need the rest of the session at the same quality, even if it is not in stereo.
(Incidentally, 'Stormy Weather' is in stereo so there must be a story as to why the rest of the session is only available in such wretched stereo quality)
I currently own the standard Candid CDs of these sessions.
