  1. Now streaming: I ordered this disc from @felser yesterday. See his other CDs for sale here. Can't wait to hear Bonner, Houston, and Hart in full fidelity. Until it arrives, the Yoo-Toobz will do.
  2. NP: Hank Jones, Shelly Manne, George Duvivier - In Japan (All Art Jazz, 1991) originally released on Trio Records Japan in 1979 Top-shelf stuff.
  3. That sounds FUN.
  4. Marc Johnson's Right Brain Patrol - Magic Labyrinth (JMT, 1995)
  5. It's a solid date. However, I'd recommend Byard's first collaboration with Michael Marcus, This Happening (1997), over Involution. The earlier album is a piano-sax duo, and they seem less constrained on that session. I kept hoping that they'd let loose a bit more on Involution. But they rarely did, and I find it strangely sedate.
  6. Michael Marcus & The Jaki Byard Trio - Involution (Justin Time, 1998) with Ralph Hamperian (b) and Richard Allen (d)
  7. @soulpope, thank you so much for this background info, a history lesson on Bolet in miniature. As usual, I'm the beneficiary of my fellow forum members' expertise & insight.

  9. In what sense, soulpope? Did the concert & recording create a big splash -- and lead to him becoming more well-known & highly regarded? What do you think of this album, Peter? I always enjoy Vásáry's playing. So soulful and poetic. But I was unaware that he'd recorded for Collins.
  10. NP: Jerry Gonzalez & the Fort Apache Band - Earthdance (Sunnyside, 1991) Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Congas – Jerry Gonzalez Tenor Saxophone – Carter Jefferson Alto Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone – Joe Ford Piano – Larry Willis Bass – Andy Gonzalez Drums – Steve Berrios One of my favorite BANDs in the world of jazz. A terrific unit.

  17. Yes!!! . . . I got lucky. I stumbled across a copy at one of my favorite Discogs retailers, so I snapped it right up. Having the @soulpope seal of approval, it was a "can't miss" buy!
