  2. Dr. L. Subramaniam featuring Svend Asmussen - Garland (Storyville, rec. 1978) Yes.
  3. Now playing: Egberto Gismonti - Nó Caipira (Carmo; originally EMI Brazil, 1978) with Gismonti's Academia De Danças: - Mauro Senise (ss, as, fl) - Zeca Assumpção (b) - Zé Eduardo Nazário (d, perc) and orchestra IMO, this album is unclassifiable and brilliant, a tour-de-force. I don't think I've ever heard music that integrates such a wide range of disparate elements/styles/genres so organically and so successfully.
  4. I'll join in and wish everyone here on the forum a Happy New Year as well. Maybe someone will finally get around to reissuing Reminiscent Suite in 2023!
  5. Both the audio quality and the music are outstanding. Superb solo piano. I noticed that too. I prefer the original cover.
  6. Now spinning: Clare Fischer - Alone Together (Discovery; originally released on MPS, 1977)
  7. Disc 1: - Sonata No. 9 - in A Minor, Op. 47 "Kreutzer" - Sonata No. 1 - in D Major, Op. 12, No. 1
  8. Next up: Bill Berry's L.A. Big Band - "Hello Rev" (Concord, 1976) There were quite a few heavyweights in this band: - Trumpet – Bill Berry, Blue Mitchell, Cat Anderson, Gene Goe, Jack Sheldon - Saxophone – Don Menza, Jack Nimitz, Lanny Morgan, Marshal Royal, Richie Kamuca - Trombone – Benny Powell, Britt Woodman, Jimmy Cleveland, Tricky Lofton - Piano – Dave Frishberg - Bass – Monty Budwig - Drums – Frank Capp
  9. Excellent. And a rare Venus release that doesn't feature a woman on the cover, scantily-clad or otherwise.
  10. An amazing voice and an impeccable rhythmic sense. The dude could sing.
  11. Descarga compiles two Fantasy LPs: Agua Dulce (1971) and Live at the Funky Quarters (1972)
  12. It's Brazz-Jazz from the 1980s. Sorta Azymuth-ish. I dig it.
  13. Next up: Marcio Montarroyos - Magic Moment (Columbia/Lorimar, 1982)
  14. Recently plucked from a record store dollar bin: Billy Eckstine - Mister B. and the Band: The Savoy Sessions (Savoy/Arista, rec. 1945-47)
