  3. CD reissue on Bainbridge
  4. More Latin Jazz: with Clare Fischer, Poncho Sanchez, and others
  5. NP: Dick Hyman - Scott Joplin: Piano Works (1899-1904) (RCA Victor) This CD compiles 16 cuts from Hyman's 5-LP set Scott Joplin: Complete Works for Piano (RCA, 1975). Great stuff!
  6. Last night: Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia (MCA UK, 1978) and The Richard Sussman Quintet - Free Fall (Inner City, 1978)
  7. I have an old emusic.com download (and the LP). I should probably track down that Elemental CD, since that album is one of my faves -- and I'm sure the sonic improvement would be considerable. I know that the Elemental CD reissue of Sonny Criss's Saturday Morning is MUCH better than any previous issue, AQ-wise. It's another Xanadu doozy, musically speaking. NP:
  8. Yes, all of these. And I would also recommend these important late-era Ellington albums: - The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse - The Latin American Suite - The New Orleans Suite - 70th Birthday Concert - Togo Brava Suite (UA/Blue Note)
  9. I read Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath a few times in my early-20s, and it made a huge impact. I'm not sure that would have the same effect now that I'm in my mid-50s. Maybe I should re-read it to find out.
  10. and then Terrific.
  11. All Hail King Kirby! Back-to-back National Championships for the University of Georgia. It's a good time to be a Dawg.
  12. But does the album include a version of the "Star Wars" theme -- like Murray's lounge act?!?
  13. Now listening to Narciso Yepes' recording of Salvador Bacarisse's Concertino for Guitar and Orchestra (and other works) on this disc: ¡Magnífica!
