  1. Thanks. I'm glad! I agree, that's a fantastic performance.
  2. The Very Best of Nancy Wilson: The Capitol Recordings, 1960-1976 Disc 3 of 3
  3. Exactly. To give everyone a sense of The Epoch Times' credibility, they claim that Bill Gates is using vaccines to chip people and convert us into automatons who will do his bidding. So when they attack the NIH, Fauci, and others, we shouldn't be surprised -- because they are bat-shit crazy and they definitely have an agenda. So it is irresponsible to quote this source, here or elsewhere. It's a geyser of misinformation, and their reporting has no correlation with reality whatsoever.
  4. Frank Sinatra - The Capitol Years Disc 1 of 3
  5. Bobby Watson & the Horizon Quintet - Gumbo (Evidence, rec. 1983) Originally released on the Amigo label in Sweden in 1985
  6. Even though I like them very much, the two Leos have never hit me as hard as The Circle of Time. I should probably re-visit them. Myers was on quite a run during the 80s. Jumping in the Sugar Bowl (Minor Music, 1984) and Amina (Novus, 1987) are also very, very good. Regarding The Circle of Time: The out-in-the-country vibe -- you can practically hear the insects buzzing 'round the screened porch -- is what gets me. I've only heard two other jazz musicians who consistently capture that feeling so well: Marion Brown and John Carter.
  7. Superb compositions and playing.
  8. A treasure trove.
  9. Marlene VerPlanck - Pure & Natural (Audiophile, 1987) and Steve Kuhn Quartet - Last Year's Waltz (ECM, 1982) with Sheila Jordan (vo), Harvie Swartz (b), and Bob Moses (d) Recorded April 1981 at Fat Tuesday's, NYC
  10. Now on my 'table: Carmen McRae - Live at Sugar Hill San Francisco (Time Records, 1963) with Norman Simmons (p), Victor Sproles (b), Stuart Martin (d)
  11. Disc 1 of 2 Originally released as two LPs: The Hottest New Group in Jazz and L, H & R Sing Ellington
  12. Last week's entries on More Favorites: - Abbey Lincoln - Talking to the Sun (Enja, 1984) - Amina Claudine Myers Trio - The Circle of Time (Black Saint, 1984) - Ray Anderson - Right Down Your Alley (Soul Note, 1984) Three really strong records. Thoughts?

  15. I very much enjoy Azymuth, but I think Bertrami's two solo releases -- Blue Wave and Dreams Are Real -- are even better. Like Rab said, more jazz-oriented. NP:
