  1. Ooooohh. Nice. Wish I had that set!
  2. What prompted this discovery? Watching cartoons?
  3. For me, it's been a Friday of nothing but piano trios. Now: Earlier:
  4. A desert-island disc.
  5. Tito Puente's Golden Latin All Stars - "In Session" (RMM/TropiJazz, 1994) I really like this one.
  6. I hear you on that. The Never Again! LP sequence is imprinted in my brain. Gotta tack on the bonus tracks at the end.
  7. Yes, I've been enjoying the disc! They're two young musician with very bright futures, IMO. I had tix to see them perform at Emory University in ATL -- but the concert was canceled when the pandemic hit. Argh. Hopefully, they'll reschedule it at some point.
  8. Ah, didn't realize that there were bonus cuts! I may have to track that down the CD then. Mickey Tucker sounds GOOD on that organ. NP:
  9. Prompted by some Erroll Garner discussion elsewhere on the board: I'm listening to the cuts originally released as Gemini (1972).
  10. The Hip Organ Trio is the Xanadu reissue of Never Again. Same music. I guess Schlitten got those tapes when he and Joe Fields parted ways. Another LP with Eddie Gladden that I would definitely recommend: Mickey Tucker - Mister Mysterious (Muse, 1979) IMO, this is Mickey Tucker's finest hour as a leader. Since it's out of print, here's the full LP on YT:
  11. I'm not absolutely certain, but it appears to be the exact same music that Telarc issued a few years ago. ... But instead of putting two LPs worth of material on each CD -- like Telarc did -- Mack Avenue has put each LP on a single CD. So what was formerly six Telarc CDs has become twelve CDs in this package.
  12. Chico Hamilton - Passin' Thru / Man from Two Worlds (Impulse)
  13. Ryan Cohan - Originations (Origin, 2020)
  14. Steve Berrios and Son Bachéche - First World (Milestone, 1995)
  15. Next up: Steve Lacy - Momentum (Novus, 1987)
  16. Tim Berne's Fractured Fairy Tales (JMT, 1989) It's so much fun to hear music that sounds like it's flying apart and coming together simultaneously. That delicious, perfectly balanced tension. Tremendous.
  17. Sending best wishes and warm regards Billy's way. Hopefully, it's nothing serious.
  18. Earlier this evening: Exceptional music.
  19. Now listening to Richard Wagner selections from this set:
