Good stuff. Underrated 70s KB.

Watched it yesterday. I enjoyed it. Don't expect anything mind-blowing. But anyone who digs Buster's music should give it a look.

Superb. She's the daughter of Alex Malheiros, the bassist for Azymuth. Another Brazilian disc to investigate.

Two big thumbs from me up for Helio Alves. Peter, if you enjoy Kenny Barron's Brazilian outings, you might want to look into Alves' recordings with the Brazilian Trio: - Forests (Zoho, 2008) - Constelação (Motema, 2012) - Águas Brasileiras (Zoho, 2020) All three are excellent, IMO. I dig how the Brazilian Trio evokes the sound of "classic" Brazilian samba & bossa piano trios like the Tamba Trio, Zimbo Trio, and Sambrasa Trio -- while also doing their own thing.

I agree. Lewis plays very well, and the whole album is very enjoyable.

Next up: Duke Ellington - Togo Brava Suite (United Artists, 1972) I love this record. The end may have been near, but -- on this particular day -- Duke and his band were still FLYING.

More Dizzy big band stuff from the 1960s: Verve "MPS Series" reissue

I don't know about the Impulse stuff, but Rhino reissued Trane's Atlantic recordings on vinyl. Are those LPs fetching silly-high prices in the used marketplace?

Got a sudden yen for some Dizzy in a big band context. So I went to the shelves and pulled: PJ-93 (mono) Up next: LS 86022 (stereo) Coincidentally, both LPs were released in 1965. And both records are wonderful, IMO.
