I agree with the others. Too soon for concern. Occasionally, I get packages and the tracking doesn't get updated at all until "Out for Delivery" -- even though it's moving through the system the whole time.

Rooster, when you say these new NDR releases "sound better" than the HighNotes, do you mean audio quality-wise? Or musically? Just curious. I only ask because I've held off on these, thinking I have enough. 😉

Yes, I agree 100%. No more "best of" lists. They're silly. Instead, let's make lists of "favorites," fully acknowledging the subjectivity of what we've chosen. Then it becomes like 'Show & Tell' back in our school days: "Hey, let me tell you about this wonderful thing that I really enjoy. It's not better or worse than what you brought to class. It's just different." Hope I don't sound Pollyannaish. ... I just think the distinction is very important.

I like the sound that Marty Ehrlich makes on alto -- or any instrument, really. I suppose it says something that his voice doesn't change from instrument to instrument. It's just him. ... He's managed to carve out a niche, his own distinct thing, I think.

That just looks like drug abuse to me. It makes me sad. What a scourge.

IMO... Bashin': The Unpredictable Jimmy Smith is not "watered down." Neither is Wes' Smokin' at the Half Note. Neither is Jimmy & Wes: The Dynamic Duo. And I could easily name a bunch more. Of course, Verve had a different approach to production than BN. A different aesthetic, for sure. ... Some Verve records -- not all -- were more "commercial." But so what? Why throw the baby out with the bathwater? I'm glad to have them ALL. Just my 2 cents.

So true. De gustibus non est disputandum. I've been reading a bit about the UK jazz scene, but I haven't had much of a chance to dig into it yet. For quite a while, I've been focused on my 70s blog project. Looks like there's a lot to discover there though!
