  1. I had no idea that record existed, never seen it before. And that's an impeccable rhythm section! Still more John Stowell . . . David Friesen, John Stowell - Other Mansions (Inner City, 1980)
  2. More John Stowell . . . David Friesen - Waterfall Rainbow (Inner City, 1977)
  3. Scenes [John Stowell, Jeff Johnson, John Bishop] - Along the Way (Origin, 2006)
  4. Just now noticing some times on this CD that Lewis Nash plays with an uncanny similarity to Connie Kay. A nice tip of the cap.
  5. John Taylor, Martin France, Palle Danielsson - Angel of the Presence (CAM Jazz, 2004) Is there anything better than piano trio in perfect equilibrium? Nothing is missing. It's a complete orchestra.
  6. Leon Parker - Awakening (Columbia, 1998) From a time -- not that long ago -- when the "major labels" were still playing in the jazz sandbox, releasing interesting music.
  7. Love that one.
  8. Me too!!! Back in the day, I was happily snapping up LPs when people were unloading them for CDs. Now, I'm doing the same -- except it's the other way around. 😛
  9. So good!!! Yes! Mine too! And Joe Chambers! Don't get no better than that!!! NP: Phew! Good stuff! I'm like a Blue Note record cover with all these exclamation marks!!! 🙂
  10. with Steve LaSpina (b) and Jeff Hirshfield (d)
  11. Deliciously Charles Ives-ian in places.
  12. Oh yeah. An he's an excellent drummer. And it runs in the family -- since he's Roy Haynes' grandson. NP: Frank Kimbrough, Joe Locke - Saturn's Child (OmniTone) Almost inevitably (given the instrumentation), this is reminiscent of Chick & Gary Burton. A little less ECM-y though.
  13. This has been one of my favorites for a long time.
  14. I'd be more inclined to think that it speaks to the typical age of most forum members. 😉
  15. Odd that this one has never been issued in a digital format. Some lovely music here.
  16. Yes! An outstanding LP that deserves to be reissued. In my experience, you can hardly go wrong with Jascha Horenstein in just about any repertoire.
  17. Recorded at Bim Huis, Amsterdam in 1999
