  9. NP: The Best of the Big Bands: Claude Thornhill (Columbia/Sony) and earlier: Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath (RCA Neon/Fledg'ling) A bit of a contrast between these two. Yeah.
  10. Oh man, that's so true. It seems like Konitz made duo records with a hundred different pianists -- but the ones with Martial Solal are extra special.

  12. This one again: Scenes [John Stowell, Jeff Johnson, John Bishop] - Along the Way (Origin) You can tell that these guys have played together for a while. Very tangible feeling of a band, not just three dudes who happen to be making a record.
  13. Richie Beirach - The Breathing of Statues (CMP, 1982) One of Beirach's best, IMO.
