  6. Pharoah Sanders - Village of the Pharoahs / Wisdom Through Music (Impulse) I think that's one of Brackeen's very best. What a trio! They are ON FIRE.
  7. Favorite Violin Concertos / Arthur Grumiaux, Various Conductors & Orchestras (Philips) I've never heard a more lyrical interpretation of Beethoven's VC than this version by Grumiaux and Colin Davis.

  14. Love this music so much that I plopped for the Pure Pleasure 180 gram LP reissue that came out a few months ago. Not cheap. But it does sound stinkin' tremendous. (No comparison with my old blogosphere-sourced .mp3 files.)

  18. Rooster - Thanks for sharing those interviews. Very interesting! IMO, Maupin's contributions to Bitches Brew are incalculable. That rumbling, dark, brooding sound sets the record apart from so many others. It's part of what makes Bitches Brew so unforgettable.
