Carolina Panthers DT Kris Jenkins was placed on IR due to torn knee ACL. Tough break for this outstanding lineman, who was also forced to miss most of last year. Pats play Panthers next Sunday. It may have helped our chances a bit. Damn, every game is tough for the Patriots. They've got a killer schedule, plus everyone guns for them. -

What do you think about keeping a cumulative total? -

Points shouldn't matter as we should make our picks cumulative over the season. There would be no ties in that case. Where's the glory in winning one week then losing a bunch of others? We should have an overall champ at the end. Sure hope I can be on the website consistently enough to be able to make my weekly picks. -

I wrote down my picks and had Washington picked over Chicago (which was an easy pick.) I evidently forgot to include that pick on Organissimo, as I was just following somebody all the way down as reference for the games on tap. That person apparently forgot to post a pick on that game as well. Grrr... Okay, I hurt myself there. I get credit for 8. My week could have been even better than it was... Next time, I won't forget to mark down a pick on the website. -

Hey Marty, I noticed that quite a few "experts" have picked the Bills to finish ahead of the Jets this season. What do you think? Damn, you guys should have kept Jordan and released Curtis Martin. Maybe I'll end up eating these words, but that's how it will look. -

Give em a break, Kevin. It's only the first game of the season. They'll straighten out their kicking game. Belichick doesn't put up with that kind of crap. I thought they looked good. They've got to tighten up their run defence and fix the problem on special teams, but aside from that they looked great. I don't agree about the 4-3. Jarvis Green is awesome, but the problem is that they've got no depth should one of those linemen go down. Who would replace Green, Warren or Seymour if one went down? Maquise Hill? I think Belichick is committed to the 3-4, but Beisel and Chad Brown have to still learn the system. He'll switch the defence around every game, so it probably doesn't matter how they start the game off. Raiders stayed relatively close due to some dumb Pat penalties in the first half. I thought they pretty much dominated the Raiders, though the score didn't necessarily reflect it. Brady didn't show any hunger to pile up the score. We should have reminded him of Noj's comments... -

Not only that, but he caused an ill-timed penalty in the second half which hurt his team. He screws up in critical moments. -

Besides having the ball hit the turf, they also would have had to switch Collins' jersey to Patriots red, white, and blue to get that call. Cheaters. ← Bullshit roughing the penalty call against the Raiders in 1976, which resulted in allowing the Raiders to score and eventually win the Super Bowl. Cheaters.... Noj and I go at it again... -

Happy Birthday to a good guy! -
Yes, one of the best recordings every of JOS. ← I think it's a good set as well, though the recording isn't exactly top-notch. Pretty fairly priced too, I think.

$39 to fill up yesterday. This is getting ugly. I've been doing more driving on my job lately too... -
Saturday Oct 29th ← And don't fall for the Greg N-will-buy-you-a-drink trap! He doesn't even show!

If you're still interested in travelling a bit, Ed, I could be persuaded to see O again at Baker's in October. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Toledo. I might be able to fine a sober driver again, although with the price of drinks we were all sober that night!

Detroit has a good D-line, I think. Other than that, the Bears are it for defense in the NFC North, that is true. But the Vikes and the Pack, and this year maybe the Lions, have enough offense to cover for their defenses--enough for the Vikes to win the division (probably) and for the Pack and the Lions to be maybe a touch above .500 this year. ← Detroit also has good linebackers. It's the secondary which needs to be tested. I think Detroit should surprise this season.
