  1. Ahmad's Blues is great stuff! Somebody should pick that one up.
  2. I'm offering Andrew Hill, "Grass Roots" It's an extra copy. There are a few scuff marks which do not affect play.
  3. Hey Sandy, I'll take the Fuller vol3. Thanks!
  4. I couldn't make it past the first dozen pics. She just doesn't turn me on in any way. I guess I prefer brunettes! I just see her as an above average-looking woman with a good set of jugs! (well, the pics do seem to highlight that aspect. ) She's a babe, but not my type. B-)
  5. hey y'all, i am really serious about this. can anybody point out ANY difference in the new Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers RVG ant the previously issued non-RVG version (other than the liner notes addition?) help me out here!!!! How would I know? I always trade in my old masterings to defray the costs of the new RVGs!
  6. What's that?
  7. Mine was a rambling post for sure. Yes, I wouldn't be surprised that you do have people who buy up Mosaics to resell them later on. Again, so what? What exactly do you expect with collector's editions? Mosaic is trying to make a profit; and hopefully, the estates of the artists get their due benefits as well. Mosaic sells this music without taking any chances. The artists are well-known. They just have to remaster and repackage the material. They make only a limited supply, which contains their costs and encourages their selling. Again, I don't see what there is to get upset about that.
  8. Moose is correct. I'm firmly convinced that Blue Note will eventually reissue everything. They've even been consistently reissuing Conns, which were meant to be limited editions to begin with. I've paid some pretty high prices on rare cds only to end up rebuying them when they become RVG'd! If there's something you really want, just wait!
  9. I don't understand this line of thinking. Mosaic sets are basically for collectors. You can get most of the stuff by buying individual cds--not all but most of the sessions. Mosaic limits their supply. They're for collectors. So of course you will get a lot of trading on ebay along with irrational price swings. So what? I own less than five Mosaic sets and couldn't care less if I don't ever buy another. I just bought the Patton Select when I had every session on cd except "That Certain Feeling" which will probably be reissued some time. I bought it for that session alone, and because I can afford it if I want to. Yes, I've got the bread to buy some of these things, but I won't pay much on ebay; and my wife begs me to moderate my habits. I do hold off on lots of stuff. We have to have a balanced life. I am utterly convinced that everything will eventually be reissued; and this constitutes for many of us, a repeat purchase.
  10. Latest news: WR David Patten has just signed with the Redskins. Patten was New England's third receiver and possibly their best deep threat. That's Patten, Andruzzi, Troy Brown, Ty Law, Roman Pfifer--some decent names there--and nobody added on as replacement yet. Patriots are always slow to add people. Sources claim the team is close to signing an Arizon cornerback. I don't recall the name offhand, but he was the 10th pick in the 1998 draft and has been plagued by injuries the last couple of years. They better start replacing some of these good players that have departed. I expect more departures too; especially if some players won't restructure their contracts. Linebacker Rosey Colvin will have to restructure if he is to stay on the team. I also wouldn't bet much that cornerback Tyrone Poole will remain with the team. I'm sure he'll be released as well.
  11. You can take some of our coaches and players, but you can't transfer over Patriot success. It's not so simple.
  12. Andruzzi for you ss1! (Don't be greedy... )
  13. I think it's typical at this time for most teams to be "short" players. In other words, greater numbers have departed from teams than have been added. This will change as the free agency period continues. Right now, most of our teams will appear to be in deficit as far as player changes are concerned.
  14. Wasn't "Down to Earth" reissued under the Spanish Blue Notes? Should be possible to get that one. "Brown Sugar" is trickier to find. I've got a copy, but I've been looking for "Mo' Greens."
  15. Elderly people are bored and feel useless in Asia. It's a young person's society. (How's that for a generalization? )
  16. We should get together sometime. Will you be in the Elyria area?
  17. The exodus continues... Browns have just signed OG Joe Andruzzi from the Patriots. He signed a 4 year $9 million contract. Normally, the Pats are willing to pay this kind of money. I suppose they've got their eyes on some kind of replacement.
  18. No extra draft picks this year. They've just got the normal compliment. Actually, I can answer my own question: you'll rarely see New England act early in the free agent marketplace. They let the high price guys go first then they seek out bargains. They like to pay players $1-2 million range. They've got a whole team full of these guys!
  19. Happy Birthday brother E!
  20. Obviously not so. My wife and I went alone. My gratuity bottle of Johnny Walker Red didn't make it past the custom's guy, who bought it from me. I also brought a lot of 555 cigarette packets to help grease my way through places. I didn't get to fly to places at all as you had to book these flights well in advance. I just paid for personal "taxis," which proved to be a good idea. I would point out a place on the map, like "Pegu" and the taxi guy would take me there. I was living next door in Thailand at the time.
  21. And I'm listening to Moncur disc 3. (from etherbord) Had no idea that Jackie Mac's "Hipnosis" was this good!
  22. What about them? I don't have any special news nor even follow the team very much. I'm a Patriot fan...
  23. Lost Grooves is in the house! Thanks Paul. BTW, this cd has the alt take of Brother Soul from Lou's Say it Loud cd just re-issued by Water which I don't think is on the Water reissue. So greater still. Yeah, I know it Brad. That alternate take is terrific and I don't have another copy. But it was worth it. You were really nice to offer Scottb your copy of "Basra." Enjoy!
  24. Great move! B-) Which part of Ohio, Ted?
