  1. Sorry to leave you out of my last post, ASNL77, but I hope your case is settled appropriately as well.
  2. Underground is a friend of mine, but I disagree with him on this. You bet this stuff should be aired in public. I believe that any trading impropriety on the part of a boardmember should be made public. We trade here with complete integrity and trust. Having said that, I do believe that it would be necessary to try and work things out privately FIRST, before airing it on the board. Apparently, this had been tried, but the pms and emails hadn't been returned. Evidently, there was no other choice. Bol and Mark are both frequent traders on this board. They have the right to expect fair trading, and hopefully, they will get it from Paul. I hope that everything gets settled to everyone's satisfaction.
  3. Hmm, this is not good. I think I've dealt with Paul before and things went fine, but you guys have legitimate gripes. Thanks for airing it out. We need to know these things.
  4. Any kind of language would do actually.
  5. Did you check to see if there was a copyrighted disc in there?
  6. Sounds like you guys had a great time. Where's the pics??
  7. Can someone please remind me of Hiroshi's email address? I lost all my emails after my computer crashed a month or so ago. Thanks!
  8. Heck, I could have sent it to you at half that price. It's a good video, but I don't need to watch it beyond a couple of times. I think I've still got mine somewhere...
  9. Hmm, Rooster, I seem to remember offering you a John Hicks title in one of our multi-disc trades... Can't remember the title, but I no longer have it. I was introduced to John Hicks early in my jazz-loving career through his collaborations with Pharoah Sanders. His play on "Journey to the One" is excellent. I've had several of his discs as leader, but I've traded some of them away for whatever reasons. I still have "Friends Old and New" which is a straightahead session. I love it, but you might not like it as much. My favorite cd is "Crazy For You," where Hicks plays Gershwin's music. I've kept that one.
  10. I am witholding criticism on anyone, Sims, the label, until we find out the true facts. Sims could be against the war; everybody seems to assume he supports it. Blue Note's intransigence on reissuing it could be viewed in two ways--one noble, the other not. (a) They don't want to spend the $ to redo the artwork and retitling or (b) they view this as an historical artwork and do not want to revise it in any way. I hope they are motivated by the latter rather than the former. In the meantime, if this has been released in Europe, I would imagine that any resistance to reissuing it here in its original forms will be greatly lessened. Sims will eventually relent (if he is indeed in opposition to its release in its original form.) Some patience everyone, and we'll probably see it reissued here.
  11. You've still got the Patriots, Weiz...
  12. Happy Birthday to both of you.
  13. Very interesting and well-considered comments. Thanks for posting the link!
  14. I would go with the Plugged Nickel box, as it is my personal favorite. But I just want to put in a plug for Organissimo's best reviewer... Rooster Ties! Always enjoy his reviews...
  15. Snap it up, Scottb! I tell you it's worth it.
  16. Conn, for your info., this is not one the titles that I got rid of to make room for the RVG. It's worse that that because I have never been able to get my hands on a copy (even a Spanish copy) to listen to! I HAVE NEVER HEARD BASRA! It's no longer "Basra" for crying out loud! It's now called "Rio" or "Malta" or "Stockholm" or something of the sort...
  17. Don't take it so hard, Chris. I'm sure there are still a few of those Blue Spanish versions hanging around somewhere. After listening to the Conn version in my car all day, I came to a few conclusions: --Man, this is good shit! --Man, this could use a remastering! --Man, if Scott B could only hear this stuff!
  18. I form no more resolutions regarding cd purchases...think I've got it all under control. I buy what I want; and I don't want too much. lemme see... --fire my neighbor's dogshit back into his yard (via snow shovel) on a daily basis. (Had a good headstart on that one.) Maybe my aim will improve and I can hit his front window... --enjoy my job this time. (things going well so far.) --return to chess tournaments (first one scheduled end-March) --see if I can harass the Firefly into making Organissimo a weekly guest. --could use some more exercise --big one: get better use out of my free time (that means more beer! ) --do a better job of saving money. Damn, I've got just about everything I want. Why all this consumerism?? --read more (for sure!)
  19. There's a terrific garbage dump located near my city...
  20. You mean that thing I've been playing in my car all day might be worth that much in the future? Man, I'm glad that I don't sell all my old versions before getting the new ones in hand...
  21. Michael Franks. :rsly:
  22. Those of us here who...er...refuse to speculate with our older versions still retain them just in case something like this happens! I think I'll spin my old version of Basra in the car today...
